  1. Not a bad idea with putting Kyle or Luke at the point, I think the only reason why Mitchell doesn't start is because Curtis and White are Seniors. If they were Juniors or Sophomores Mitchell would be starting. It is just how it is at Deming....parents would be complaing that there child is a Senior and an underclass man was starting before them. Believe me I KNOW for a fact this is how it works. I played at Deming. To me the player who works the hardest and is better should be playing. Basketball is a competive sport you play to win.

Mitchell couldn't miss on this night, although Pendleton County was allowing him 5 seconds to catch and shoot. If he has pressure on him, can't get the shot off. Devilman, Mitchells shot reminds me of how they used to shoot it in the old days. Oldschool shot, but it was effective on this night vs Pendleton.

Just a thought and I have seen Deming numerous times this season, why not give one of the King boys a shot at the point, insert Mitchell and you gain more offense, better ball handling, and size.

I don't know if its a defensive scheme that was designed this way, but in this game with Pendleton County, Deming was playing a 1-3-1 half court zone and Mitchell was in the middle of the zone and he always was manning that spot on the zone with his back to the basketball. It was comical from a spectators view but maybe he was face guarding someone from about 6 feet away opposite the ball.

  2. Deming comes from 12 down with 3:57 left in the 4th to win on Homecoming.

    Deming: (11-9) Curtis 2, White 5, L. King 19, K. King 28, Grause 4, Mitchell 4, Caldwell 6.

    Richmond Model: (8-13) Gerald 17, Dunaway 7, Marriott 27, Trinch 8, Cormney 6, Daniel 2.

**The girls won against Richmond Model as well 61 - 46 against Richmond Model I do not have any box scores for this game. If anyone does please post.

Good win for both the boys and girls

  3. Matt Thompson did a great job holding Luke King to 12 points. Steven Mason really stepped up and played his hardest. The Saints had a 19 point lead in the 4th quarter, and they slowed the game down. They made some turnovers ad made some defensive mistakes and Deming was right back in it. This game was not all that close until the end. Very fast pace game. Andy Clarke also did a great job coming off the bench hitting three 3s and two very clutch free throws to seal the victory.

I wouldn't really say that he held Luke King to 12 points because Luke was in foul trouble most of the game for ticky tack calls. You have to give Jason Hinson credit that he has his players ready to play and if there not playing well he gets there attention. I believe he is one of the best coaches in the region, for the small school he coaches.

  4. I agree that Rex does hustle but lacks consistency as most do. But I disagree with no one else on the team plays as hard. Nathan Mitchell comes off the bench each game and draws the toughest person to defend and plays hard. He also lacks consistency in scoring but his defense lacks nothing.

As of right now no one on Deming's Team is playing defense. A team doesn't put up 90+ points and have 5 players double digits. I believe all of the starters were in double digits. Deming got beat probably 20 times last night with there press if I were coaching I would not let my players pick up a ball the day after a defensive effort like last night. They would be doing nothing but running and working of DEFENSE.

  5. So are they 14 now and turn 15 this April? If that's the case then they were never held back. I just read on here that some of Mason's freshman will turn 16 over the summer which means that they were held back at some time. I think the Twins are extemely talented and didn't know that they played AAU with some Royals, guess that is where all of the rumors about them transferring may have gotten started.

They are 15 now and will be 16 in April. They were never held back. They started kindergarten at 6 and will graduate at 19. Hope this clarifies things.

    :ylsuper:

  6. Am pretty sure the King twins have been held back a year like Stenzel,Setty and others. This has never bothered me at all and is not a big deal. All of these boys will be 15 throughout the school year and will probably turn 16 in the summer. So realistically they will be driving before they start their sophomore years and will graduate at 18 and a half if you will, not a big deal.

I'm pretty sure your WRONG! Once again I will say this they have never been held back and never failed a grade. They are Honor Roll students. All In you can't seem to come to grips that they are good ball players for there age (15 birthday is in April). Kyle and Luke actually played on a AAU team with the Freshmen of Mason Co. (Gilbert, Pawasat, and Setty) which they were the state champions. Any more questions about the KING TWINS you can ask me.

  7. I heard the king twins are a little old to be a freshman. is this true?

What is a little old to be freshmen? The King twins have never been held back and have not failed any grades, they are true 15 year old freshmen. I know there parents very well and they would be more than willing to show you a birth certificate to prove there age. I hope this helps to end any of the false hood of there age. :fire:

  8. What players are living up to expectations and what players are playing above their expectations?

I would say that the King twins for Deming are living up to there expectations and more for just being freshmen. Kyle is 3rd in the area in scoring and Luke is 3rd or 4th in rebounding and I believe 5th in scoring.

  9. I agree STML your greatest asset is the role player. I remember a player from augusta a few years ago by the name of packy hinson (coach Jason Hinson's younger brother) who was a great role player, every night he was out working hard and took at least 5 charges a game. He never got the publicity, i doubt there is 10 people on here that even remember him. Another one i remember was a bracken kid by the name of Michael Cannon who i think was a good role player because he made a difference when he was on the floor, he was a very smart player who did what he had to do every night. Neither of them got recognition and their names were in the box scores...

I am 1 of 10 who remember "Packy", he knew his role and did it every night and didn't complain about recognition I guarantee it. As long as they got the "W" I'm sure he was happy.

  10. What happens if you lose one of your "scorers" to sickness, injury, ect. then you would have to rely and someone else to fill their shoes. I'm not saying everyone on the team has to score the same amount but you have to have other options. IMO a role player is your greatest asset because every night they are there doing their job and they don't get the recognition of the "scorer"

Who said they don't get recognition? Just because their name is not in the paper or in the box scores?

  11. The help is there, I didn't seen them play but I heard that the game resembled a bad NBA game. Dribble down the court and shoot. The "twins" are only two players and it takes 5 to play. I'm not knocking the King boys but it seems that nobody has faith in the other players on the team. Deming could do something if they would come together as a team and not worry about how many points one scores.

It sure was one of the most exciting NBA games I've seen! I agree that it takes 5 to play but you have to put the ball in the basket to win games. If you don't score you will never have a chance at winning. Everyone on a team has a role to play. I think that some of the players don't really know what their roles are. Not all players are good at scoring but every player can contribute whether it be rebounding, defense, etc.......

  12. Deming could be much better team if the "twins" could get some help. It seemed to me that they pretty much had to do everything the other night. Although Tuesday there team mates did take some shots, but just could not get them to go in. The Devils need to improve on DEFENSE and BLOCKING out. I think Deming will surprise some people this year. GREAT GAME GUYS!
