  1. Cards seem to play up to the competition, or down! Robbie Stenzel shows everyone who the best player in the tenth is this year and goes off on Mason for 35! Cards by 12!:ylsuper:

Mason might as well plan a parade for, oh, 2012 cause it may be a long dry spell in Maysville!

Never saw Stenzel play until last night and I was amazed at his talent. He can do it all. It'll be fun to watch him and Middleton battle against each other tonight.

  2. Ryle has put in a much more pass oriented offense for this season he will have a good chance to get noticed.

That's good to know. I think a move to the TE position will suit him well. I like that he's added 25 lbs to his frame. At 6'7 235 I think he'll be a great TE. In the times I saw him play, he didn't do anything that made him seem unathletic, if you understand what I'm saying.

  3. I was reading Cats Pause the other day and saw Tate Nichols(sp) from Ryle being looked at by Kentucky. Anyone have his stats from last season?

Ryle's stat guy is one of the best. They have their stats listed for every game on Ryle's football website. Just spot searching I estimated he caught for about 100 yards and saw 1 TD. If you'd like you can check their box scores individually. Keep in mind last year Ryle did not throw that much. They had a great running attack with Adam Schmitz & Co. I'd imagine he's getting some looks because of his size 6'6 210 and raw talent at this point. He'll only get better.

  4. We all have a team/teams we root for. Who are the guys on your team that have x-factor abilities? He could be the star player or the Soph OL that fills in off the bench nicely to give the Sr OL a breather.

Please give your player's name and even better if you can give an example of their x-factor ability.

  5. Mexitucky, you hit the nail on the head. Kues has proven he can do it with his arm and legs already, but the bottom line is he needs guys who can catch the ball. NewCath lost some of their excellent receivers to graduation, but I'd expect the next guys in line to fill in nicely.

In the early going, Kues is my guy. Guidugli is well...a Guidugli, so even though he doesn't have much of a track record, his last name speaks for itself. He'll be up there.

  6. This makes me think that bigger things are in store for Teipel if IU has already made an offer and pulled, so if I were him, think of it as one less school to choose from. The same goes for Mainello's offer from CMU. If these two play well and demonstrate consistent technique they'll be going to good college programs. Any insiders know how they are in class? I'm curious to know their academic side.

  7. Holmes is a phenomenal team to watch. Their next 5 off the bench could be starters. They're too deep. When they're getting 17 from JaMel Riley off the bench, that tells me something. B-Town can score from what I've seen, but when the 9th Region MVP Arrez Henderson and team show up on Wednesday, I see a lobsided score.

  8. Yes, Ryle beat NCC. This game is going to be intense. This is a game that CCHS players had marked on their calendars when the schedule came out. NO ONE is going to slack off in this one. There are so many connections between both of these teams. A lot of the players were teammates before they got into high school. Some of the coaches even taught players on the opposite team in their early years. This is a HUGE game for both teams.

  9. I was in the broadcast booth with Charlie and Scott last week at the Newport/NewCath game. As a young broadcaster it's easy to say that I look up to guys like Charlie and Scott. Charlie, if you have never met him, is one heck and I mean one heck of a guy. He's always been one of the coolest people to talk to about Northern Kentucky sports. He knows everything. He was talking to me before the game about a segment he does on ICN6 that talks about the basics of football. He's not only a broadcaster, but he's a 'teaching broadcaster'. He was talking about 'holding' with me and was literally holding me explaining the rule. We was also explaining the forward/backward pass rule to me. I could talk to guys like him for days about that stuff.

Overall, coming from a Radio/TV background, ICN6 does one heck of a job. Don Weber is a one man band, it's really unbelievable how much he does. Most of their crew are college kids or interns just trying to learn the ropes. I thought the broadcast looked really good from the monitor that was in the room with us. Just coming from someone who is aspiring to become a better broadcaster I'd like to see more college students/ interns doing PBP and color for ICN and other outlets.

Also, to the post referring to pronouncing names wrong like 'Bathiany'. This is a tough thing to get down. I'll ask two or three people from the school and you get a different pronounciation. I agree that everyone's name should be pronounciated right in a broadcast, but if you can't find out, you have to do the best you can and ask for forgiveness. Even the best broadcasters flub up on names. Gilyard for UC for example. Houshmanzadeh when he first broke out.

By the way how is it pronounced? I think I have a Highlands game soon.
