Franklin County jumped to 1-0 lead in second inning. Then, Ryle's James Hoskins belted a bases clearing double over the center fielder's head in the 3rd inning and the Raiders never looked back in their first game of the afternoon. Logan Carney made several nice plays at second base to lead the Raiders on defense. Kyle Donovan got the win for Ryle.

Very solid win by Ryle against the #8 ranked team in the state (Maxpreps). Donovan threw his usual outstanding game. Hoskins hit was huge, as they intentionally walked Hempel to load the bases and he made them pay. Ryle ran off 6 runs in the inning and were in charge from there on in. Isler finished the game in the 7th inning.

If Thompson is the heavy-set right-hander that is considered their ace, no he did not. He threw against Simon Kenton, I beleive. Franklin threw two pitchers against us, both righties, both very nice pitchers, but neither in the same category as the kid from West Jessamine.
