Sweeperboy
Seven hrs. It felt like four. Well done all the way around. Glad we didnt have to pay the Cris Collinsworth speaking fee. His speech was both inspiring and motivational and right on the money. You could see it in the boys eyes as he was speaking. Even this old armchair QB was in awe of how professional this guy is. Several gallons of Blue Koolaid was dispensed today. Go Birds, 20n10.

leatherneck
Another great banquet. Having a senior son, the time flew by for me. Sweep is right. Cris is an excellent motivational speaker. When he decides to end his NFL gig, he can do quite well on the motivational speaking tour. Dan Brossart did an absolutely wonderful job on the highlight DVD. The man puts in countless hours sifting through all the full game DVDs, picking out the best plays and then selecting the best camera angle shot of the play. Thanks also to Steve Roller and Tom Cecil, who along with Dan, man the cameras for the games. Cecil got some really neat locker room and post game footage (particularly the post game of X). Carolyn Bardo and Jackie Dierig did a great job organizing the banquet and Amy Fennell did a wonderful job decorating the room. Looking forward to next year's team and the banquet. Birds are really going to surprise the folks that expect a huge drop off as a result of the senior class graduating. :thumb:

I agree, next years team is going to surprise alot of people!!! I thought Jeff did an excellent job putting into words what it feels like to be a parent of an HHS football player. Very touching. Voice of Reason
We all poke fun at the length of the Highlands banquet. But when you think about all the hours and hard work the boys and coaches put in, not to mention the success achieved, they deserve all the recognition and praise they get regardless of how long it takes to get the job done. Congrats on a historic season to the Bluebirds program!
Henry521
I know there is a forum for this, but I wanted to place this little tid bit here because the only ones that would be interested in it would likely check out this thread than one in advertising. Just to let anyone that may be interested know, the 2009 Highlands Football Highlight DVD will be on sale at the High School bookstore for $25. Clyde
I thought Jeff did an excellent job putting into words . I always wondered why the Birds' banquet took so long. Now I know.
Henry521
I'm just curious what other banquets are like. Do they serve lunch? Do they show highlights? Do they recognize every player , Freshman thru Senior? How long do other teams banquets last?
