Bertke (9) goes the distance and gets the winning hit .

 

Shumate pitched great for the Colonels the 5 he threw .Followed up by Bruegerman (sp??) .

 

Down 6-5 in the bottom of the 7 th Gohs (8) was hit by a pitch ,Leeke(9) walked and Hall (10) walked .Bertke crushed a pitch to centerfield that ended up coming within a few feet of the fence .The centerfielder ( Martin) for CCH made a great diving effort for the ball that was directly over his head.The hit scored LIL Gohs and Leeke for the win .

 

Beechwod has to have the youngest JV team around .They consistently start 3 sophs , 5 frosh and 1 8 th grader .

Hall did well. HBP in the 7th, but ump made the call that he didn't get out of the way of the pitch. Tough call... kid didn't have any elbow armor on. So, stepping back in the box with a busted up arm, Hall decided to line a base hit to right on the next pitch to set the table for the next batter, J Bertke. The rest is history.

 

As a side note, 4 of the the JV/FR Colonels and 4 of the JV/FR Beechies will play together on the U15 Bluegrass Lions this summer. I'm thinking the Lions beat a lot of U16 teams this summer.
