2nd Region: Week 11

Week in Review: 

Henderson County ran through a 4-game gauntlet unscathed this week. Their impressive week was capped off by a 60-46 home victory over Louisville Trinity on Saturday, extending the Colonel's winning streak to 10 games.  Lyon County’s lone game this week was a 48-point throttling of Madisonville.  Webster County moved its record against district rival Union County to 2-1 on the season with a victory over the Braves on Monday.  However, Union County bounced back, winning its next 3 games over Livingston Central, Trigg County, and McLean County, respectively.  Hopkinsville has been struggling over the last couple of weeks, as this week’s losses to Henderson County and McCracken County extended their losing streak to 4 games. 

Interesting Games this Week:

Monday: Henderson County vs. Muhlenberg County - The Colonels' consistency will be tested.

Tuesday: Union County at Hopkinsville - This will be an interesting test of two teams that could very well be in the region semis in a few weeks. 

Thursday: Hopkins County Central at Union County - Two high-scoring teams that play an exciting brand of basketball. 

Friday: Lyon County vs. Marshall County - Two teams in the hunt for a trip to Rupp in their respective regions. 

Team Rankings:

1. Henderson County (21-4) - Hopkins Central took the Colonels to the wire in Morton’s Gap on Monday.  However, Henderson County rolled over Hopkinsville, Caldwell County, and Louisville Trinity after Monday’s close call, extending its overall winning streak to 10 games.  

2. Lyon County (21-6) - The Lions took care of business against Madisonville this week.  Lyon County faces Livingston Central, St. Mary, and Marshall County this week. 

3. Webster County (18-7) - The Trojans went 2-0 on the week and showed they can win in a variety of ways.  After defeating Hopkins Central last week by scoring 80 points, they defeated Union County this week, only scoring 45. 

4. Union County (16-9) - The Braves went 3-1 on the week.  They will be tested this week as they face Hopkinsville and Hopkins Central. 

5. Hopkins County Central  (13-9) - The Storm moves ahead of Hopkinsville this week.  Using Henderson County and Webster County as a measuring stick, the Storm had a better showing than the Tigers against these common opponents. 

6. Hopkinsville (14-13) - The Tigers will look to end a 4-game losing streak and gain some momentum heading into the postseason when they host Union County on Tuesday. 

7. Christian County (10-11) - The Colonels are quietly building some strong momentum heading into the postseason.  Christian County is on a 4-game winning streak, including wins this week over Muhlenberg, UHA, and Fort Campbell. 

8. Caldwell County (14-12) - The Tigers feasted on teams ranked below them this week, going 3-1.  Their lone loss was when they hosted Henderson County on Thursday. 

9. UHA (7-14) - The Blazers ended a 4-game losing streak with a road win over Todd County Central on Saturday. 

10. Livingston Central (12-11) - The Cardinals went 2-2 on the week with wins over Dawson County and Trigg County but lopsided losses to Union County and Carlisle County.
