2nd Region: Week 10

Week in Review: 

Henderson County defeated Lyon County on Monday, just one day after Lyon County captured the All-A State Championship.  Lyon County bounced back, however, with a big win over Trigg and an impressive victory over Grayson County.  Webster County dropped a district matchup on the road at Henderson County, and recovered nicely to defeat Hopkins County Central for the 2nd time this season.  Union County’s only game of the week was a home loss to district rival Henderson County, giving the Colonels the #1 seed in the 6th district and a guaranteed spot in the 2nd Region Tournament.  Hopkinsville had a tough week back from the snow layoff, losing to both Paducah Tilghman and Ohio County.

Team Rankings:

1. Henderson County (17-4) - The Colonel won the head-to-head matchup vs.. Lyon County, so the Colonels earn the region’s #1 ranking this week.  Following up that win with 2 district wins helped solidify their spot at the top of the region. 

2. Lyon County (20-6) - The Lions drop one spot after losing at home to Henderson County.  However, Saturday’s win over Grayson County was an impressive win and a reminder that they are one of the top teams not only in the region but in Kentucky. 

3. Webster County (16-7) - The Trojans went 1-1 on the week.  They will face district rival Union County tonight for the third time this season.  Doubt either coach shows their hand tonight as these teams will face off again in a little over two weeks in the opening round of the 6th district tournament. 

4. Union County (13-8) - The Braves move up a spot despite going 0-1 on the week.  The Braves had an impressive showing in a loss to Henderson County on Friday night.  

5. Hopkinsville (14-11) - The Tigers have the opportunity to make a strong statement in their final three games.  They will travel to Henderson County, McCracken County, and plan Union County at home. 

6. Hopkins County Central (12-7) - The Storm hosts Henderson County tonight and travels to Marshall County on Friday.  With 5 starters averaging double figures, Hopkins County Central is a very real threat to region foes as we approach the postseason. 

7. Christian County (7-11) - The Colonels lost to McCracken on the road but bounced back with an impressive road win over Caldwell County. 

8. Caldwell County (11-11) - The Tigers went 2-2 on the week with wins over Madisonville and UHA and losses to Christian County and Bowling Green.  

9. UHA (6-12) - The Blazers dropped 2 of their 3 games this week.  They will play Christian County for the first time this season on Thursday in an important 8th District matchup. 

10. Livingston Central (10-9) - The Cardinals lost 2 of 3 last week, with their lone win coming at home against Ft. Campbell.
