Trinity (2-0) will host Center Grove (IN) (1-1) after beating Frederick Douglass 23-13. Center Grove is coming off a win over Carroll (IN) 28-14. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

Last year Center Grove (IN) beat Trinity 34-7.

Center Grove (IN) is ranked 6th in Indiana according to Calpreps ratings. Their one loss is to Westfield (IN) who is ranked #4 in Indiana 34-28.

Trinity took advantage of  Frederick Douglass turnovers plus played good defense  to get the win. The offense led by QB Zane Johnson was able to get 23 points against a tough Frederick Douglass defense.

This will be another tough game for Trinity and mostly likely will be a close game. Does Trinity avenge last year's loss or does Center Grove get the win again?

Yes, to answer the question. Trinity defense is sound. The Rocks will need to get after the Trojans’ 6’6” quarterback.  I feel 21-14 in favor of Trinity. Turnovers, as always, will dictate the outcome.

Coming into this game, I'd say its a coin flip. I like the Rocks by one touchdown at home.

The Trinity defense has been very, very good through two games. That D-Line and especially Bailey Vance and Jahbarri Frost have helped lead the way. Haven't seen any of Center Grove this year but stats show the Trojans have been able to sling the ball around this year so far. Can that group from T continue to break through to the backfield against one of Indiana's best?

I think Trinity's offense made  some improvement last week in the passing game despite not gaining a great number of yards.   The QB is throwing on the run better and made some timely throws.   As with virtually all teams at this stage, T is definitely a work in progress.   I know nothing about Center Grove except that they are a formidable opponent for the Rocks' first home game.  What concerns me a little about T is that they seem (to me anyway)  to lose their focus somewhat in the 2nd half.  (I know they had a good early 3rd Q last week...but not much thereafter.)   They have to learn how to play hard and consistent for the full 48 minutes.   Looking forward to the game.  Has anyone heard about the availability of  OL Nate Shileds who was injured last game? Go Rocks.

CG's quarterback is a 6'6" 215 pound junior. Surprisingly, despite his measurables, he doesn't have any college offers that I can see. He looks like a pure pocket passer, so I don't know if the Rocks have much to worry about outside the pocket.

He's got a cannon, and the arm strength comes easily for him. He doesn't have to reach back for a little extra zip, because it's already there. The first throw in this highlight package gives you a good idea of what he offers.

Pulling for Trinity, but this is going to be a battle. I'm with @thsrocks on the score prediction, though it could go either way. T's defense looks like a championship caliber unit through two games, and Center Grove returns several starters from last year's team that shut the Rocks down.

The Trojans jumped out to a 21-6 lead against Westfield but then fumbled away a few possessions and gave up the lead and Gabe McWilliams wasn't able to get them back on top. Last week against Carroll the Trojans got a quick lead again and storms pretty much wiped out the second half and the game was called 28-14. McWilliams (a senior) is a big guy that we saw late in the game last year after it was out of reach. Good arm but nothing like then-starter Tyler Cherry who is now at IU. Most all of their offense from last year is gone, but they return very good WRs in #9 Brevin Holubar and #1 Drake McClurg. Their style remains a shotgun spread RPO and the two defenses they have faced thus far have been very decent teams.

Defensively, they rotate between a 3-4 Cover 2 base and a 4-2-5 set with more speed on the field to keep the edge. Top returning tackler DT Kobe Cherry has been sidelined so far this season with an apparent knee injury, so I am not sure if we will see him or not. He has been on the sidelines but has not dressed. Both lines are massive and will be a true test for the Rocks if OL Nate Shields is not able to go.

I do feel like Ronan Byrne, Boyd Knoerr and the rest of the line did a great job against a very talented Douglass team last week in his absence. I know they want to get Jeremiah Lynn more touches in this one but Kaleb Warner and Nation McBroom have been great in the early going. JB Berry has been very steady as well and this young Rocks team is starting to callus up those knuckles.

Overall I also think this could be a close game and will depend on taking care of the ball and keeping composure throughout. I don't think this game will be as chippy as the last two, but I'm sure several of the Trojans remember the double-OT thriller the last time they made the trip to St. Matthews. It will be a good measuring stick game for this team as it continues to grow and mold as a unit. Go Rocks! ☘️

The Center Grove game saw Johnson get the nod at QB1 for Trinity, as I recall.
