Colonels_Wear_Blue
For those a little less familiar with power rankings, the idea behind them is to hypothetically pit every team from a group (here it's Central KY) against every other team in the group, regardless of size or classification. You form your rankings by saying if you took every single team in the group, in that snapshot of a moment, and if you were able to have each team play each other team right then, then which team would prove to be the best by wins, and so on down the line. So now that we're just over 4 weeks away from football season kicking off, what are you thinking in terms of preseason power rankings for the 39 football teams in Central Kentucky? What's your Top 10 look like? ...or if you want to make things a little more interesting, since we know virtually everyone will have Boyle, Douglass and Scott County in their top 3, who would you rank as your #4 through #13 teams? 5A Anderson County 1A Berea 3A Bourbon County 4A Boyle County 6A Bryan Station 3A Casey County 2A Clinton County 2A Danville 5A East Jessamine 1A Frankfort 4A Franklin County 6A Frederick Douglass 3A Garrard County 6A George Rogers Clark 6A Great Crossing 4A Harrison County 6A Henry Clay 1A Paris 6A Lafayette 3A LaRue County 3A Lexington Catholic 2A Lexington Christian Academy 4A Lincoln County 6A Madison Central 5A Madison Southern 3A Marion County 5A Montgomery County 3A Mercer County 1A Nicholas County 6A Paul Laurence Dunbar 4A Russell County 5A Scott County 4A Taylor County 6A Tates Creek 2A Washington County 4A Wayne County 5A West Jessamine 4A Western Hills 5A Woodford County
BEChargers
Scott County didn't make it out of the 2nd round last year. Not sure I would put them top 3 personally. But I guess that's the purpose of the thread.

But I guess that's the purpose of the thread. Scott County's offense returns their starting QB, their entire offensive line, their top 2 wide receivers, and although they graduated their top three RBs, they were kind of a "running back by committee" type of offense last year, with ten different guys with 10+ rush attempts. Honestly, if you look at average yards per carry from last year's three top running backs who all graduated (Jacob Fryman 6.1 ypc, Thomas Feickert 9.3 ypc, Ellis Huguely 9.0 ypc), the next 4 guys in line, who are all returning, quite frankly offer more potential yardage carrying the ball: Timmy Emongo 19.1 ypc, Kayne Garrett 7.25 ypc, Buddy Collins 17.3 ypc, Donovan Meeks 7.6 ypc. Timmy Emongo was a 5'10" 180lb freshman last year and ran the ball 20 times for total 382 yards and 5 touchdowns. Dude was getting nearly 20 yards every time he ran the ball, and was scoring a touchdown 1 in 4 times that he ran it. He already has offers from EKU, Kent State and Miami, OH. Then Buddy Collins, who's given a verbal commitment to Navy, was very similar to Emongo, with 15 carries for 260 yards and 4 touchdowns. So again, basically he pumped out 17.3 yards every time he carried the ball and had a touchdown 1 in 4 times he ran it. The Scott County offense has the potential to be downright scary in 2024. And their defense returns 6 of 11 starters, so they're not looking too bad on defense either.

They lost their top 3 RBs, which for a team that runs the ball 83% of the time, that's a big deal. Anyway, I'm sure Coach McKee will have them ready to play each and every week. I feel fairly confident that most can agree that Boyle County is #1 & FD is #2 in Central KY. After that, I think you have a mixture of teams who could claim the #3 spot like Scott County, Franklin County, Lexington Catholic, Lexington Christian (although I think they'll drop a bit) & Bryan Station. A team that I think will be very competitive this year, but not talked about much will be Mercer County. I'm curious to see how they do in their opening against Bullitt East. I believe they will be very competitive with the Chargers.

BEChargers
I like Scott Co. I like a big school running that offense. They may indeed be top 3 on this list but the point of my earlier post was that I see Boyle and FD definitely being top 3 but I'm not sure most would put Scott Co. in the same group as them, or be as confident in them as they are in Boyle and FD.
