In a match-up that you could possibly see in the 12th Region Tournament, it was all Lady Rockets in the 1st quarter and the 2nd half. Wayne County played hard all night but they might have exerted a little too much effort in bringing a 15 point deficit after the first quarter down to 33-29 halftime deficit.

 

The Lady Rockets played really well on both sides of the ball and once again Sarah Rowe led the way. Coming off an amazing performance against Cawood, a game in which the Lady Rockets defeated the Trojanettes 73-35 in the Corbin Shootout on Saturday, she led the Lady Rockets in scoring with 32 points. I'm not sure but that could be a career high for Rowe.

 

Against Cawood, Rowe had a double-double by the half with 16 points and 12 rebounds...she finished with 32 points and 12 boards.

 

Tonight, against Wayne County, she once again a first half with 16 points but instead of having 10 points in the second half as she did against Cawood, she scored 16 more points. I would be quite happy with 3 out of 4 halves with 16 points. I can only hope that she can keep on doing this.

 

Another Rockcastle County player had a big night inside as 8th grade center Sara Hammond had 9 points but it was her 6 blocked shots that cause the Lady Cardinals problems all night.

 

The Lady Rockets were able to contain Wayne's leading scorer, Heather Stearns, to 11 points with 9 of those coming in the first half. Rachel Bristow paced Wayne with 16 points as she scored 8 of her teams 13 second half points.

 

With the win, the Lady Rockets improve to 13-7 overall and 5-0 in 12th Region play.

 

With the loss, the Lady Cardinals fall to 10-7 overall and 4-2 in 12th Region play.
