Shelby Needs A Peak, Not A Valley, To Outrun The Jumpers

Teaser Preview: The 2A spotlight shines on War Memorial in Mayfield this week, but there's another top ten quarterfinal on tap in Somerset.

The Briar Jumpers are three possessions away from being undefeated. The names to know are brothers Kam and Kris Hughes. Kam has run for 1,600 yards and scored 31 total touchdowns. Kris has accounted for over 1,100 yards from scrimmage and 16 scores. They're also standout defenders in the secondary. 

Russ Osborne will keep them on their toes, though he's been turnover prone at times. When the interceptions come, they come in bunches. He's amassed 3,400 yards of total offense and 36 touchdowns. The Osborne to Brady Bentley connection has been a hit this year, with Bentley leading the state in receiving yards with 1,416.

Both teams can pour on the points, but Valley is the worst defensive team left in 2A. That may ultimately spell their demise in what should be a barnburner.
