Caldwell County and Henderson County haven't met previously in the 2020-21 boys' high school basketball season. Henderson County is the champion out of the 6th District. The Colonels (12-11) pulled away to beat Webster County 82-62 in the 6th District boys' basketball title game. Henderson County has won five of its last seven games. Caldwell County is the runner-up out of the 7th District. The Tigers (8-15) finished runner-up to Madisonville-North Hopkins in the 7th District boys' basketball title game as the Maroons prevailed 73-65. However, Caldwell County has won four of its last six games. Hopkinsville at Lyon County: Hopkinsville is poised to visit frontrunner Lyon County for an intriguing matchup in the opening round of the 2nd Region Boys' Basketball Tournament on Monday, March 22. The Lyons pulled away to defeat Crittenden County 79-59 in the 5th District Boys' Basketball Tournament title game. With the winningest record among 2nd Region boys' basketball teams, Lyon County (22-3) has won eight of its last nine games. The Tigers (6-4) finished runner-up to rival University Heights in the 8th District Boys' Basketball Tournament. University Heights outlasted Hopkinsville 64-58 in the 8th District boys' basketball title game. Still, Hopkinsville has won four of its last six games. Hopkinsville and Lyon County haven't met previously in the current campaign. Webster County at Madisonville-North Hopkins: Webster County is set to face Madisonville-North Hopkins for the first time in the 2020-21 boys' high school basketball season during the opening round of the 2nd Region Boys' Basketball Tournament on Monday, March 22. The runner-up out of the 6th District, Webster County was among the 2nd Region's Top 5 teams during the first half of the current campaign. However, Webster County (15-10) has dropped seven of its last eight games. Madisonville-North Hopkins, the champion out of the 7th District, continues to excel in the second half of the 2020-21 boys' high school basketball season. The Maroons are on a nine-game winning streak heading into the 2nd Region Boys' Basketball Tournament. Madisonville-North Hopkins hasn't lost since dropping a game to Murray in the Marshall County Hoopfest on February 2- Crittenden County at University Heights: The Rockets and Blazers are slated to meet for the second time in the 2020-21 boys' high school basketball season during the opening round of the 2nd Region Tournament on Monday, March 22. University Heights defeated Crittenden County 61-54 in a mid-season boys' high school basketball matchup on February 20. The runner-up out of the 5th District, Crittenden County has managed to win six of its last eight games. After outlasting rival Hopkinsville in overtime in the 8th District boys' basketball title game, University Heights is carrying momentum into the 2nd Region Boys' Basketball Tournament.
