1. Johnson Central (6-1): The Golden Eagles were sidelined throughout Week 4, missing games versus Pikeville and Betsy Layne. Seniors Cory VanHoose (18.0 ppg), Isaiah May (15.1 ppg) and John King (12.0) paced the Golden Eagles in the month of January. Johnson Central is scheduled to face Perry County Central (Feb. 2, home), Magoffin County (Feb. 4, away) and Belfry (Feb. 6, away) during the first week of February.

 

2. Pikeville (5-3): The Panthers suffered back-to-back losses in Week 4, dropping games to East Ridge and Harlan County. Turning in an outstanding individual performance, Rylee Samons scored 50 points in the Panthers' loss to East Ridge. Pikeville is slated to meet Jenkins (Feb. 2, away), Belfry (Feb. 4, home), Somerset (Feb. 5, away) and East Ridge (Feb. 6, home) in Week 5. 

 

3. Shelby Valley (6-3): Following back-to-back wins one week earlier, Shelby Valley dropped a game to visiting Magoffin County. Seniors Kaden Robinson (17.6 ppg) and Keian Worrix (16.9 ppg) are combining to lead former state champion Shelby Valley. The Wildcats are slated to face East Ridge (Feb. 4, home) and Jenkins (Feb. 5, away) in Week 5. 

 

4. Belfry (4-3): The Pirates have been sidelined since January 22. Currently, Sal Dean (15.4 ppg), Tyler Chaffin (14.0 ppg), Bol Kuir (12.4 ppg) and Ben McNamee (10.4 ppg) are averaging double figures in scoring for 60th District title contender Belfry. The Pirates are due to battle Paintsville (Feb. 3, away), Pikeville (Feb. 4, away) and Johnson Central (Feb. 6, home) in Week 5. 

 

5. East Ridge (5-4): In between losses to Boyd County and Paintsville, East Ridge managed to knock off 59th District rival Pikeville 95-83. Eli Rose, Braxton Stanley and Isaac Woods are combining to account for 40-plus points per game for the Warriors. East Ridge is slated to visit both Shelby Valley (Feb. 4) and Pikeville (Feb. 6) for upcoming games. 

 

6. Martin County (4-4): Reigning 15th Region champion Martin County notched a convincing victory in Week 4, defeating Lawrence County 79-50. The Cardinals have compiled three straight wins. The trio of Brady Dingess (20.6 ppg), Luke Hale (12.9 ppg) and Jacob Butcher (10.1 ppg, 8.1 rpg) leads the Cardinals. Martin County is scheduled to visit Rose Hill Christian (Feb. 1) before facing Hazard (Feb. 2) in the WYMT Mountain Classic at Perry County Central High School. 

 

7. Paintsville (3-4): The Tigers halted a three-game losing skid on Saturday, Jan. 30, pulling away to defeat East Ridge 80-62 on the road. Junior Colby Fugate and senior Braxton Tharp continue to lead the Tigers. Paintsville is poised to host Belfry (Feb. 3) and 57th District rival Magoffin County (Feb. 6) in Week 5.

 

8. Betsy Layne (4-4): The Bobcats notched a pair of 58th District wins in Week 4, rolling past county rivals Floyd Central and Prestonsburg. Senior Jordan Frazier is averaging 21.1 points per game for the Bobcats while teammates Brady Robinson (18.9 ppg) and Chase Mims (13.0 ppg) follow him in double figures in scoring. Betsy Layne is scheduled to face Knox Central in the opening round of the WYMT Mountain Classic at Perry County Central High School on Tuesday, Feb. 2. 

 

10. Lawrence County (4-3): The Bulldogs dropped a game to former 57th District rival Martin County in Week 4. Now, Lawrence County is sidelined. The Bulldogs are scheduled to return to the court for a home game versus Fairview on Tuesday, Feb. 9.

 

11. Pike County Central (4-1): The Hawks remained sidelined in Week 4. Pike County Central has upcoming games scheduled versus Rose Hill Christian (Feb. 2, away), Ligon (Feb. 4, home), Phelps (Feb. 5, away ) and Perry County Central (Feb. 6, home). 

 

12. Floyd Central (2-5): After dropping back-to-back games to Cordia and Betsy Layne, Floyd Central pulled away to defeat Menifee County 93-71 on the road in Frenchburg. The win over Menifee County halted a five-game losing skid for the Jaguars. Floyd Central has upcoming games scheduled versus Prestonsburg (Feb. 5, home) and Letcher County Central (Feb. 6, away). 

 

13. Prestonsburg (1-4): The Blackcats dropped back-to-back games to Betsy Layne and Knox Central January 29-30. Prestonsburg is slated to face Magoffin County (Feb. 1, away), Phelps (Feb. 1, home), Floyd Central (Feb. 5, away) and Buckhorn (Feb. 6, away) in Week 5.  

 

14. Jenkins (1-3): The Cavaliers have been sidelined since shortly after defeating Riverside Christian on January 16. Jenkins is scheduled to host 59th District foe Shelby Valley for its next game on Friday, Feb. 5.
