Ashland was by far the most complete 3A team and that D will rightfully have their own legend in Tomcat lore.

Pittman may be MVP and he was awesome but Gilliam and the D were co MVPs. 2020 CATS D needs a nickname. Maybe the VIRUS!! Who knows just so happy for the Players, the Coaches and the Tomcat faithful. Been way too long.

Don’t know guessing some good pieces. We are losing  some great players as well. Heard from a friend  we have some pretty good middle school classes coming including Pittman’s little brother.

Had 9 starters back from last season. Top of my head they will lose 6 of those.

Offense- Return 3 of 11 Starters

Lose Germann, Foutch, S. Alley, Stevens, Pittman, Gillum, Garett, and J. Alley

Return Mullins, Jones, and Messer.

 

Defense- Return 3 of 11 Starters

Lose Layman, Latherow, Coburn, Tackett, J. Alley, Gillum, Garrett, and Rayburn

FWIW,

Looking at Etown and it looks like they are getting hit very hard by graduation as well. Almost all their offensive production and several key playmakers on defense as well.

Belfry, CAL, DeSales, Russell, and Ashland all will be losing the brunt of their production.

On paper, Glasgow & Mercer County look to have the most coming back from teams who were in the hunt in 2020. Bell County should be improved.

Ashland was very senior laden this year. The top seven tacklers and most significant contributors on offense will be gone in the spring.

But.... I wouldn't underestimate Love and his staff. They proved this year their excellence at developing talent and plugging holes. I really didn't expect them to be better this season after losing Hester and the offensive line, plus losing the QB to transfer.
