This is why they were so good this year. Parks job is to seal Mayer on this play. The D-End #86 hits him to allow Mayer to have access to RB. Discipline football. In regards to the Mayer Tackle where he's picks him up and throws him down...

#86 John Lawrie. John is the definition of a hard-working, reliable, disciplined football player. He was the punter as well. Smart as a whip, and extremely musically talented too, for what it's worth. He's the kind of player that coaches dream about having on their roster.

I'm a HUGE fan of John and his entire family (and there are a lot of them). Great people, super involved in their kids' activities, and two kind parents.

His job isn’t to seal him. They are running inside zone bash. They are reading him. He stepped down with the down block which is a give read. Cov Cath does a great job setting the edge allowing him to rally late to the cut back.

While we are at it #11, Thelen, stepped up field took on two blocks and contained perfectly on the play as well. The outside lbs and dline were discipline and did this all year long to allow Mayer and Felix to make plays. FD and LaSalle ran all over every team they played, but not this group.
