DragonFire Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 Cary Fowler is a Hopkinsville native that played at Murray State. Fowler brings 23 years of coaching experience, most recently serving as the defensive coordinator at Eastern Illinois for the past two seasons. His last head coaching experience was six seasons at Tarleton State University from 2010-2015, after serving as a coordinator for two years prior. From what I've observed and from the people I have spoken to, Fowler seems like a gifted speaker and motivator, which are sorely needed aspects in the program as it is today. There remains no hire that can flip some switch and have Central back to the team they were in the early part of this decade overnight, but first and foremost, they need someone who can reach the kids. Team discipline will be a key area of focus as well.
zoneblitz2 Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 This is a great hire for Warren Central.
PurplePride92 Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 I hope it works out and wish him success. Still a whole lot of talent in the BG area!!!!
VF111 Posted February 17, 2019 Posted February 17, 2019 A good hire in the sense that Central got someone with a lot of coaching experience. As for the outgoing coach, Coach Taylor, I do feel that it needs to be said that he inherited as bad a situation as there is in KY and did what I consider to be an admirable job. His teams did not lack discipline. They played hard, he kept numbers respectable despite what many would think to be all the reasons in the world to quit, and began to restock the talent pools to a degree. He knew what he was taking on and never once complained in the media that I saw. He lobbied for his kids and I don't think I ever heard of them just laying down in the three years he was there. Good luck to Coach Fowler, but I thought it just needed to be said that Coach Taylor did a good deal more than his record showed.

He took on an incredible challenge, and I will always be grateful that he did.
CoachK1980 Posted February 17, 2019 Posted February 17, 2019 (edited) It should also noted that the middle school (Moss) which is the feeder to WCHS didn’t field a 7th and 8th grade team from 2013-2016 until Coach Davidson came in and revamped that program. In 2017 the middle school had over 50 players and had 40+ in 2018. Davidson coached under Joel Taylor at Bowling Green Junior High, was the head coach at Caverna High School and an assistant at South Warren High School. Under Taylor the program, from what I understand, was going in the right direction. The team's record does not reflect the improvements that were made. The Scribe Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 Good hire for Warren Central, but I think if Clayton decides to retire at Hoptown a second time in the coming years Fowler is headed west to his alma mater.
