What does Fort Knox need to do to improve in 2018? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Back in the sixties Fort Knox used to be very, very good. What has happened to this once fine program. What is different now, than it was back in the day.

Three major issues:

1) Different Soldier base. Because of the shifting around of platoons, we have a different type of family on base than in the past.

2) Living off post. In the past, athletes could live off Post and still attend Fort Knox. Now, even if both parents work ON Post, if they live off base, the student cannot attend. This has helped Hardin County Schools, especially John Hardin, immensely.

3) Leadership. Have been told in the past that families could stick around longer if the Soldier (mother or father of athlete) asked to stay. Nowadays, Fort Knox is lucky to have 10 returnees PERIOD -- not counting starters, just 10 kids who were on the previous roster.

Wow that would be very tough to overcome. So, I apologize for my lack of knowledge, it sounds like Fort Knox is not a public school but rather a school ran by the Military? Is that correct? I had no idea I just assumed they were a public school in the Fort Knox area.

It's a public school paid for by tax dollars and operated by the military but only students of active military members stationed at Fort Knox attend. It isn't a military school in the vein of marching, drilling, guns, etc.

These students should have the option of playing for Fort Knox if their parent or parents are stationed at the base. There should be an exception to the present rule.

I'm not following. They do play at Fort Knox if their parents are stationed there. Do you mean you think they should have the option to play elsewhere?

I am not making myself clear. I apologize. If the parents live off base, but work on base their children should have the option to play for Fort Knox. That was the old rule. The new rule states the parents must live on base for their children to attend Fort Knox.if they work on base but live off base say in E Town then the kids go to the E Town schools.
