Congratulations to Wheelersburg, Ohio on what I think might be their 1st state title I'm not 100% sure.

It is their second. Former Ashland coach Larry Hall was there for their first as an assistant coach.

Thanks I wasn't sure, do you know what year they won it?

It was somewhere between 89-91, I can't remember for sure. I just remember it was within a year or so of Ashland's title in 1990 because that was mentioned when he was hired at Ashland.

If I read the Ohio threads that came with 17 seconds to tie the game and sent to OT.

The jump pass was in overtime on Wheelersburg's first possession. The player that threw the pass isn't a QB, and is actually better known for his abilities on the defensive side of the ball at linebacker.

I remember Hall's time at Ashland. He was Arliss Beach's coach, correct? He was successful at Wheelersburg but, for whatever reason, just couldn't get things going at Ashland.

I may have the Wheelersburg game mixed up with the Maryland 3A championship game where Linganore beat Milford Hill Academy 28-27 on a TD with 0:14 to go.

But I was sure that Wheeelersburg scored to tie the game with 0:17 remaining in the game. The jump pass for the TD was on a 4th and 1 on the 11 in OT.

Yeah he coached Arliss and I believe had some time with Ryne Salyer (QB who put up great numbers under coach Hart) prior to coach Hart coming in. He was a good coach but really needed to open up the playbook a little more when he was at Ashland. I remember him always saying he hated to pass the ball because there was essentially a 50/50 chance of not gaining any yards or it resulting in a turnover. He was a power football guy and while Arliss was great, things really dropped off once he moved on to UK.
