Lafayette 35 Dunbar 24

Recommended Posts

Dunbar ran all over the general defense last night. PLD's QB Colby Haney ran the option to perfection and rushed for close to a hundred yards and 3 tds. This is the Dunbar offense everyone is used to seeing. The defensive front played great, but a couple of long bombs on the Dunbar secondary really hurt the dogs. They just cant seem to get any breaks this season, I really feel for those kids because they are a very special bunch. This fact is unbelievable, every team Dunbar has played this year has been undefeated when PLD faced them. I seriously think Dunbar has one of the toughest schedules in the state, without a doubt. They have played MBA, Madison Central, PRP, Ryle, Woodford COunty, Tates Creek, And now Lafayette, with Henry Clay, Scott County and Bryan Station left. Wow.

It looks like Lafayette (8-0) and Henry Clay (9-0, if the beat Dunbar) will both be undefeated going into their key matchup. Is Lafayette on par with Henry Clay this year, or will the Blue Devils dominate them like they did Tates Creek?

^Lafayette's scheme is a couple of notches above TC's at this point on both offense and defense, their personnel in my opinion is a notch below TC's especially on th lines. This year it's Henry Clay's world and all the other teams in Lexington are just living in it. The Lafayette/Henry Clay game will be closer than the HC/TC game, but HC will prevail, I'll go 35-17.

I'm surprised that you are totally dismissing Scott County. They have shown that they can contend with Henry Clay.

Last time I checked Scott Co., was in Georgetown, not Lexington.

To the best of my knowledge they are right down the street (Georgetown is almost a bedroom suburb of Lexington) and they are in the same district.

In 2004, I remember Scott County making it to the final game, only to get thumped by St. X in the finals.

I don't consider a runner-up finish "going all the way".

The Publics need to raise the bar and shoot for championships like their Private opponents do......not settle for second place. This is not too far fetched.
