Wireman Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Ads remain undefeated against a quality 6A foe in come back fashion. Admirals margin of victory suddenly starting to get tight. The real story is that their roster is starting to get tight. Lucky to win tonight with all the injuries
Wireman Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Let me get settled in at home and I'll post some videos and stuff. I will say this...that was the poorest officiated game I've seen in high school in a couple of years. Both ways. Just terrible. There were moments when both coaches were ready to kill the refs and Tates Creek's coach literally chased them off the field screaming at them at halftime. Just awful.

There were moments when both coaches were ready to kill the refs and Tates Creek's coach literally chased them off the field screaming at them at halftime. Just awful. I think they really could've done a better job explaining calls -- particularly the inadvertent whistle in the second quarter (at least I think that's what it was). Gave Danville two tries at a 4th and 2. Basically a 14-point swing. Same as the Tates Creek score in the second quarter. Both players say they came down with an interception, officials give it to Tates Creek (I know offense wins if both players have possession, but it looked like Danville had the ball when the players hit the ground, then the two fought for it). Momentum swings were huge this game and I hate that the refs had to make those calls. Tough for both teams.
Wireman Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 They also took away a Danville INT run and a long Tates Creek kickoff return. Probably missed 3-4 offside penalties. No explanation of anything.
Wireman Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Unfortunately, a Tates Creek player let his emotions get the best of him and was ejected for throwing a punch:
Wireman Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Danville's Don Harris is injured and was very limited tonight. He got his competitive juices flowing late and managed to pull this out of nowhere. I would argue that this drive and particularly this run was the turning point of the game.
Juke Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Danville's Don Harris is injured and was very limited tonight. He got his competitive juices flowing late and managed to pull this out of nowhere. I would argue that this drive and particularly this run was the turning point of the game. I would argue that the turning point was the last drive of the 1st half for Danville. What appeared to be a lateral recovered by TC and would have been returned for a touchdown was blown dead and called incomplete, or the supposed inadvertent whistle when TC stopped Danville on 4th and 2, or the fumble recovered by TC in the end zone for a touchback. Somehow Danville got 5-6 tries to get a first down. All of this happened on the last possession of the 2nd half for Danville and resulted in a 21-14 TC lead at half vs a 21-7 TC lead. This game was a mess by the refs and though I do not think they intentionally favored Danville it sure impacted TC a whole lot more. All this being said, TC had plenty of chances to win this game in spite of the botched job by the refs and they just didn't make the plays. Credit to Danville as they did make the plays when needed. IMO if these 2 play on a neutral field with average refs, TC wins 8 of 10. Also, no need to put video of the TC player losing out to his emotions. Just not cool and unnecessary.

I have bad news for you. If Danville was fully healthy, they win this game on any field. That's not to take anything away from Tates Creek because they have a really good team, but Danville had a wide receiver and two 3rd string players at running back tonight. Don Harris managed to stay in for one drive late in the game and he drove the ball down the field and scored on 3 carries. That's normally what Danville has on the field for a full game. Additionally, their most consistent receiver was maybe playing at 50%. Don't act as if the bad officiating was one-sided. Tates Creek was also given a fumble recovery when Danville's receiver was clearly on his knees when the ball came out. They also had a pick 6 that was called back by a sketchy block in the back call. There was a cheap shot on almost the first play of the game when a Tates Creek player just ran up and hit a Danville player after the whistle. The officiating was terrible and Tates Creek got hosed, no doubt about it...but, it was both ways. Just a crappy crew.

I was't trying to be unfair to anyone. I just try to tell the story of what happened in the game for people who weren't there. I would have posted the same video had that been a Danville player. Tates Creek had back-to-back personal fouls on that particular drive when they still held the lead. That gave Danville 30 yards and set up a touchdown. I had no bad intentions by posting the video.

Your running back looked just fine and 1 receiver out....come on man. By the way it looked like the same cast as game 1 against Douglas. Good game for one that suppose to be dominated by Danville. Congrats to the players and coaches.

Congrats to the players and coaches. A ton of credit to Tates Creek. They have a good team. I get the feeling that Danville was trying to not play Harris very much at all on offense. I'm sure they are thinking about the three district games coming up. Tonight is the first time this season that a couple of Danville's backs earned carries when the game was in doubt.
