48th District Tournament at Wayne County

Wayne County Cardinals (21-5) (3-1) – Wayne County is the defending 48th District champions and were given the #1 seed in this year’s tournament after splitting regular season games with Southwestern. They will get the first round bye and automatically advance to the 12th Region Tournament.

Southwestern Warriors (20-8) (3-1) - #2 seed Southwestern will face #3 seed McCreary Central Monday night to determine who will advance to the championship game. Southwestern won both games in the regular season by 30+ points and should not have any problem moving on to face Wayne County in the 48th District title game.

McCreary Central Raiders (12-14) (0-4) - #3 seed McCreary Central did not win a district game this year and are big underdogs against #2 seed Southwestern. The Raiders have improved from last year and will take that to the offseason looking to get that first win over district foes next year.

Championship Game: #1 Wayne County vs #2 Southwestern/ #3 McCreary Central at 7:00

Potential Championship Game Match-up:

Wayne County and Southwestern split their regular season games and gave each other their only district loss. They should meet again for the rubber match in the 48th District title game. Southwestern beat Wayne County at the Wigwam on December 12th, 88-66, but the Cardinals avenged the loss by beating the Warriors at home 81-65 on January 30th. Look for this to be one of the top games to watch this post season as the 48th District title is on the line.
