HOMELESS CAMEL Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Krispy Kreme apologized after a store in the United Kingdom advertised a promotion for customers called KKK Wednesday, which was to be held this week. KKK, which in this case was intended to stand for "Krispy Kreme Klub," is, of course, more infamously associated with the Ku Klux Klan, a white supremacist hate group. The store that created the event, which was meant to allow customers to come into the store to decorate doughnuts, is located in Hull, England. Krispy Kreme apologizes for 'KKK' doughnut club
Jim Schue Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I don't buy the company was that stupid. The company, no. An individual franchise store owner, oh yes.
Getslow Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Serious question: Is the history of the KKK ingrained enough in the collective minds of Britons that they should be expected to notice what they'd done immediately?
True blue (and gold) Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Serious question: Is the history of the KKK ingrained enough in the collective minds of Britons that they should be expected to notice what they'd done immediately? That's my question, too.
UKMustangFan Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Serious question: Is the history of the KKK ingrained enough in the collective minds of Britons that they should be expected to notice what they'd done immediately? My first thought as well.
BigVMan23 Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Serious question: Is the history of the KKK ingrained enough in the collective minds of Britons that they should be expected to notice what they'd done immediately? I very seriously doubt it would be my guess.
TheDeuce Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I don't care if Krispy Kreme is racist... I'm still eatin' those donuts. :lol2:

TAC Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I played for a softball team named Keathley's Klan. We had a black guy on our squad. At a world tourney a couple players from a predominately black team came up to him and lit him up for what he was representing. He looked at them blankly and said you don't know John! No way ever was the name a spin off from the chickens associated with with hoods. Next year we did have new unis and played under Keathley's TPS.
Bluegrasscard Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I remember the two K's with crowns on the Bardstown Road sign for Krispy Kreme. So I do see where they got the idea. I always thought the two KKs were a little creepy for some reason.

Hellcats Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 At some point these things have to die...we're running out of letters
stickymitts Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 I'm not sure I know of any racist organizations in Britain. Should I? Current or throughout history. Maybe someone will name one.
gchs_uk9 Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 I'm not sure I know of any racist organizations in Britain. Should I? Current or throughout history. Maybe someone will name one. Only one I can think of is the National Front, which kind of aligned with Margaret Thatcher in the 1980s. I don't think they have a strong political presence any more, but racism is still a problem in Britain.
