No doubt he is one of the best. He probably would come after Couch, Redman, and Brohm though.

I assume that you are referring to Brian Brohm. I think his brother Jeff was also one of the best to play in Kentucky.

I was referring to Brian. Jeff Brohm would fall into a similar category as Justin Burke. Slightly behind Tim Couch, Chris Redmon, and Brian Brohm.

His winning percentage and statistics certainly justify being mentioned in this company.

One knock might be on the level of competition he played against, but the same could be said about Tim Couch at Leslie County.

He did something Couch couldn't, beat Highlands in their own backyard and moved on to win state.

For the record, some of Jeff Brohm's accomplishments were:

1. Named the Kentucky High School Player of the Decade by the Courier- Journal

2. Named 1st team All State

3. Named Kentucky's Mr. Football

4. Led Trinity to a State Championship

5. An outstanding career at U of L

6. Played in the NFL for several years

Pretty nice resume!!!

Couch couldn't beat Highlands and win the state championship because of his supporting cast. Unfair comparison if you are comparing the talent surrounding Tim Couch at Leslie County and the talent supporting Justin Burke at Lexington Catholic.

Like all the other great QB's that have come out of our state, 99% of them have had a great team behind them. Burke was no different. Couch is the only QB that I can think of at the level we are talking about that didn't have the supporting cast. Saying that Burke beat HHS and Couch couldn't is irrelevant to me for one major reason, they were two different HHS teams, almost 15 years apart from one another. A lot has changed since then.

Regardless I put Burke right behind Guiduli from HHS, class of 2000. (I know I probably butchered his name) Above them are in no order, Couch, Redman, Bush, Brohm (Jeff-Brian). Below Burke I put someone like Grutzka, he isn't far behind but right at his heels.

Burke does now hold the state passing td record in single season (62). But he did get that record with the help of Wes cadwell and cornell burbage.

I think you can make an argument for him anywhere from 1-3. As for competition he had a few down District teams but not near as down as what Couch faced. Burke also faced St X, Trinity(scrimmage), Highlands, Cov Cath, Rockcastle, Harrison Co, Scott Co, Boyle Co etc so I don't think the lack of competition flys because he played the best in the state.

Physically everybody saw what he could do. He is the smartest X+O player and leader I have ever been around! Don't be suprised if he doesn't go down and compete his first year at NC State! I would love to have a son that turns out to be the young man Justin is!

I'd go:

Brohm, Burke, Couch tier one

J-Lo, Guduli, Haddix, J. Brohm, Redmond tier two

Grutza, Neff, Duggins, Todd etc after them. Just my opinion though.
