These two programs appear to be moving in different directions. Fern Creek has struggled in the recent years until hiring Coach James Schooler off the Ballard staff before last season. He turned a team with 6 wins the season before he arrived into a 19 win season in 2013/14. Butler hired Coach Ricky Gibson at the same time after having a strong run of success in the recent past. In Gibson's first season the team dropped to 10-15 and they now have a 5-12 record this season after losing 7 of their last 9 games.

Fern Creek is now 11-7 winning 5 out of their last 7 games. Both teams are playing with younger players. Each start freshmen, with Fern Creek starting 3. UofL assistant, Kenny Johnson, is scheduled to attend this game to watch the 3 Fern Creek freshmen, Anthony Wales, Trey Hill, and Ahmad Price. They have all attended a UofL game on an unofficial visit and he has been to observe them at a Fern Creek practice previously.

This should be a good game to really gauge which program is heading in the right direction.
