Top Teams:

 

1. Calloway County, 15-1, The Lakers beat Mayfield 74-50 behind Parker Adams 24 points on Tuesday. The Lakers beat Marshall County on Friday night 40-32. A big District game this Friday with Murray. The winner will have the edge for the #1 seed.

 

 

2. Murray, 12-5, The Tigers beat an outmanned Fulton City team on Tuesday. Murray went on the road and beat Ballard by 8 in a game that was closer than anticipated. Ballard played without their leading scorer Keagon Cooper and another starter Dre Bledsoe.

 

 

3. Paducah Tilghman, 11-3, They beat St. Mary in a big district match-up on Tuesday. It was close until a big 4th quarter run by the Tornadoes. The Tornado had a nice win against 2nd region opponent Christian County on Friday night.

 

 

4. Graves County, 10-6, The Eagles beat McCracken on Tuesday to jump them in the polls. The Eagles lost a close to game to Tilghman last Saturday and won by double digits against McCracken to move up to #4. Graves beat cross-town rival Mayfield on Friday night and Fulton City on Saturday.

 

 

5. McCracken County, 8-8, The Mustangs lost to Graves County at home 49-38. They are having a hard time scoring against the top teams. They scored 36 against Calloway and 38 against Graves. The Mustangs won 2 games in their Mustang Madness. The Saturday game against Muhlenberg went down to the wire. They had a 14 point lead going into the 4th quarter but Muhlenberg tied it up but a FT by McCracken gave them a one point win.

 

 

6. Marshall County, 7-8, After a week break the Marshalls beat Cairo on Tuesday 62-43. The Marshalls finished the week with 2 losses. On Friday they lost to Calloway and on Saturday to Carterville, IL.

 

 

7. Ballard Memorial, 8-8, The Bombers opened the week with a 77-62 win against Cairo, IL. The Bombers trailed by 2 going into the 4th quarter but turned it on in the last stanza. The last 2 games of the week they played without their leading scorer Keagon Cooper who is out with an ankle injury. They lost a close one to Murray on Thursday and beat St. Mary on Friday.

 

 

8. Carlisle County, 10-5. The Comets fought back to win a tough game at Lyon County in OT 81-75. They lost on the road to Hickman County on Friday 56-54 in an upset. The Comets have lost 2 of their last 3 games.

 

 

9. St. Mary, 8-8, The Vikings a district game with Paducah Tilghman on Tuesday 66-52. The game was close for 3 quarters but Tilghman pulled ahead in the 4th. They lost to Ballard on Friday to go 0-2 for the week.

 

 

10. Mayfield, 6-7, They lost big to Calloway 74-50 on Tuesday. Cross town rival Graves County beat them on Friday night.

Tuesday:

 

Cape Central @ McCracken County

Paducah Tilghman @ Marshall County, the last time these 2 met the Marshall were embarrassed with a loss in the finals of the Tilghman tournament. It was a running clock in the 2nd half.

 

 

Ballard Memorial @ Mayfield- battle of two district teams and two All A teams looking to make noise next week in the regional tournament. Ballard beat Mayfield big in a holiday tournament but Mayfield played without leading scorer Marshall Bacon.

 

 

Thursday:

 

Fulton City @ Hickman County: two teams that are struggling but this game has district implications. Both teams would like to avoid Carlisle County who is hosting the District this year.

 

 

Friday:

 

Calloway County vs. Murray: Murray looks to unseat the Lakers as the top seed in the district. Both teams stand 1-0 so far. The Tigers look to be the best team to knock off the Lakers in the region this year. Depth could play a big part. The Lakers typically only play 6-7 players where Murray plays 10-12. If the game is called tight it would favor the deeper Tigers.

 

 

Carlisle County @ Fulton County, A big District game that could go a long way in decided the #1 seed. Comets are 2-1 in district play and the Pilots are 1-1.

 

 

Marshall County @ Graves County, These 2 schools have a nice rivalry and this game should be no exception. The Eagles have been playing better of late. The Marshalls struggled early in the year but seem to be playing better.

 

 

Paducah Tilghman @ McCracken County, another district match-up that will help decide the #1 seed.

 

 

Saturday:

 

Graves County @ Webster County: a tough road match-up for the Eagles. Webster is 14-1 going into this week.

Does anyone have any comments from watching the young Chris Vogt post player for Graves? I have heard great things about his potential and wondering if he has been playing exceptionally well.
