GB32 Posted January 12, 2015 Share Posted January 12, 2015 Top Ten 1. Boyd County (13-1) The Lions survived a major scare from district foe Fairview last Friday. Conner Gauze made the game tying hoop and the Lions ran away in overtime for the win. Mason County comes to town Tuesday for a showdown in Summit. 2. Rowan County (13-3) The Vikings bounced back from the loss to Boyd County with convincing wins over Fleming County and Raceland. Ryne Callahan and Justin Graham continue to shine for The Vikings. Elliott County and Wayne County will be tests this week. 3. Elliott County (10-4) The Lions are on a roll. They dismantled Morgan County 60-38 and flowed it up with a hard fought win over Lewis County Friday. It has been a team effort all year long with a myriad of players scoring and rebounding. East Carter and Rowan County present tough challenges this week. 4. Morgan County (9-3) The Cougars fell to Elliott County 60-38 last week. Foul trouble for Holden Redparth left Jordan Perry to do the bulk of the scoring. Another big district game this week with East Carter looms Friday. 5. Raceland (10-4) The absence of Connor Messer didn't hurt the Rams in a win over Greenup County on Tuesday. Jacob Blair and Rodney Vance picked up the scoring slack in the win. Saturday was a different story against #2 Rowan County an 81-48 loss. Another district seed game vs Russell and an opening round game vs Rose Hill in the All A are up next. 6. East Carter (7-8) Another good week for the Raiders with wins over Russell and rival West Carter. Connor Greene continues to impress with his scoring and playmaking abilities. This week is huge for the Raiders with district seed games vs Elliott County and Morgan County. 7. Lewis County (6-9) The Lions got a high scoring win over Bracken 85-74 then lost at Elliott County 71-63. Jordan Davis had two stellar performances and the emergence of Devon Duncan have the Lions playing better offensively. The Lions hit the road for important district tilts at Russell and Greenup County this week. 8. Fleming County (6-9) The Panthers were impressive in a big win over West Carter but ran into a buzz saw at Rowan County and fell to Franklin County Saturday. Guard play is the key for the Panthers. Less turnovers mean more touches for talented big Wilder Williams. 9. Greenup County (5-11) The Musketeers got a much needed win over Belfry 75-73 Saturday following a loss to Raceland on Tuesday. The talented GC squad hopes to get on track with region games vs West Carter and Lewis County and an out-of-region game with Paintsville. Jair Jackson needs plenty of touches for the Musketeers to climb the region ladder. 10. Fairview (8-5) The Eagles had Boyd County on the ropes Friday night before falling in overtime. Antwan Washington continues to be the catalyst for the young Eagle squad. District rival Ashland rolls into Westwood Tuesday looking for their first win.
