Recap

On cold night at Br. Thomas More Stadium the Tigers were able to survive and advance in rematch with district foe, Manual. In a much anticipated rematch the defensives of both teams took charge and were making plays to get their teams a win. On the first play of the game, Manual fumbled away the football, which set up the Tigers with great field position, which St. X used to take the lead 3-0 early in the first quarter. The Tigers had to rely on their depth at running back as senior Tajion Smith didn't return after the second play of the game and back up running back John Martinez did not play after suffering an injury against Daviess County. Tigers QB Noah Houk was in and out of the game, but he battled through a couple of big hits to remain in the game which showed his leadership and want to on this team. Houk finished the game 8-17 passing for 56 yards and 2 interceptions and added 96 yards rushing on 9 carries. The second interception led to the go ahead touchdown for the Tigers. After Manual intercepted a pass by Houk, the Manual defender fumbled the ball around midfield, and opportunistic WR, Blake Roshkowski, picked up the fumbled and returned it for a touchdown to put the Tigers ahead 12-7.

The Tigers defense did what they have done all year. Limit teams on offense and create turnovers. The Tigers defense created 3 turnovers, 2 INTs by LBer Logan Butler, his second one sealed the game for the Tigers, one INT by Jackie Arnold, and one recovered fumble by Will Edwards. If the trend of creating turnovers continue this team has the ability to keep advancing in the playoffs. Defense and a running game can travel anywhere.

October 3, 2014: St. Xavier 35 Trinity 21

Regional Final

St. X and Trinity meet for the Regional title for the first time since 2012 when Trinity won 15-14. The first meeting between these two teams Trinity started out slow and the Tigers capitalized on early opportunities to gain a big advantage that was a bit too much for Trinity to overcome. The last time St. X has knocked of Trinity in the playoffs was in the 2009 6A State Championship game, and Tigers will be looking to ending that streak and continue on the road to a State Championship in 2014. A few keys to look for in this game will be QB play, turnovers, and penalties. Which ever team has the advantage in those three categories has great opportunity to survive and advance to the State Semifinal game.

Head on over to the prediction thread to let your voice be heard on who will win, why they will win, and to engage in the always fun trash talking. Many Trinity fans believe this will not even be a game because St. X is such a better all around team, boy I hope their predictions are right!

Go Tigers!

I am not sure which Trinity fans you are making a reference to. Based on St. Xavier's inability to put an offensive touchdown on the scoreboard versus Manual, Trinity has little to fear this Friday.

Pretty sure it is me, nothing to be concerned about

First, I was just taking a little jab at PepRock and second, I believe St. X scored 5 offensive in the first meeting with Trinity.

So we are in agreement then. If Trinity wins then the Tigers should be extremely ashamed at losing to an opponent who shouldn't have even kept it close.
