Breathitt County 24 Somerset 13

Jumpers played well on D but Breathitt had a great field position all night and Trent ripped off a couple of really nice runs in the 2nd half. Jumpers just way to inconsistent on offense. Had a 70+ yard run by Tevin Slaughter, but couldn't move the ball and failed to score afterwards. Hit about a 65 yard pass and once again couldn't move the ball and didn't score.

Breathitt has a very nice team...good luck the rest of the season.

Two very solid defenses, but Breathitt had the gamechanger on their team and the capability of the big play. Somerset has a AA Championship calibre Defense, but right now they have a Regional Runner-Up offense. I projected Breathitt would sputter early as they adjusted to the step up in class, and then find their groove and that they were about a 2 TD favorite. That's how it played out.

Very beneficial game for both teams. It's very clear where Somerset needs to work on, it is also clear Breathitt has got to get better at finishing drives and converting in the redzone. You can't rely on the big play to beat Belfry, the Pirates proved that last season when they beat the Bobcats on their homefield.
