    Favorite Smoky Mountains Hiking Trails

On an upcoming trip to the Smoky Mountains, I'm planning to hike the Chimney Tops trail, a trail I've been wanting to hike for a while now but never got around to doing. For those unfamiliar, it's a steep climb to two rock spires 4,755 ft in elevation. From the top they provide a spectacular 360-degree view. 4.0 miles round trip, not a really long trail, but I hear it's beautiful albeit a bit strenuous.

Grotto and Laurel Falls are two that we did not long ago that were enjoyable. I'd like to walk the Rainbow Falls trail sometime.

What trails are your favorites in the Smokey Mountains? What trails are you considering that you haven't hiked yet?

The Chimney Tops trail is steep and if my memory serves me right, rocky in spots. You have to do Mt. LeConte via the Alum Cave Bluffs trail. I'm assuming the lodge is still at the top where you can grab a bite to eat.

I hear Chimney Tops ascends more than 1000 feet over the course of the last mile! Hope I'm up for it.

Is the Alum Bluffs trail around 11 miles round trip?

The Bluffs themselves is about 3 miles round trip and, you are correct, to the top of Mt. LeConte and back is around 11 miles.
