  1. BluegrassPreps.com is giving you a chance to show off your football knowledge statewide! The BluegrassPreps Regional Contests give you chances to pick games in different parts of the state for prizes each week of the regular season. There will be five regional contests every week. You will have a chance to pick the winners in each region -- NKY, EKY, Lexington/Central KY, Louisville, and WKY. Each region will have five games to pick from each week. We pick the games, and you will pick the winner of each game, assigning your picks a point value of 7-5-3-2-1. The first tiebreaker is picking the team (of the ten teams in the contest) that scores the most points. You don't have to pick the highest scoring team, you just have to pick a team that scores more points than the team(s) picked by the member(s) you are tied with. The second tiebreaker is time. This is a season long contest and you can enter in any or all regions that you wish. At the end of the regular season, the top two finishers in each region will compete during the playoffs for statewide bragging rights on Bluegrasspreps. If a contestant qualifies in more than one region, then the highest point total statewide from a non-qualifying contestant will advance as a Wild Card. The best part is, if you win a weekly contest, you will receive a quality prize. The deadline for all entries is 5:00pm EST Friday. (August 17th, 2018) Be sure to post your winners and assign each of them one of the following point values (7-5-3-2-1) based on how strongly you feel that that team will win. (Please note that if your selections are NOT in the specified format, your ENTIRE set of picks will be voided.) 7 5 3 2 1 1st Tiebreaker 2nd Tiebreaker: Time of post. The games this week for the Louisville Area Regional contest are: Manual vs Central Bardstown vs Spencer County Henry County vs Oldham County Christian Academy-Louisville vs South Oldham Green County vs Washington County Be sure to pick ONE winner for each game and to indicate the point value. Remember, all entries must be posted by 5:00pm EST on Friday, August 17th. Good Luck!
  2. 1) 5A Covington Catholic (15-0 in 2017) – The Colonels have a heck of an act to follow after an undefeated state championship season in 2017. Job one is replacing graduates linebacker/running back Grant Dyer, linebacker/tight end Kam Butler, quarterback AJ Mayer, defensive back/receiver Malachi Pike, and safety Adam Schneider. Most indications are that sophomore Caleb Jacob will be getting the nod as QB after a very strong freshman season for the Colonels. Casey McGinness will be returning for a 3rd year at starting RB, and receivers Jack Coldiron, Zach Coburn, and Luke Summe will be returning as well, along with the entire Colonel offensive line. Notre Dame commit Michael Mayer, junior, will lead the defense, but there are a lot of positions to be filled elsewhere on the D. Sophomore kicker Trey Gronotte also returns, with the potential to be one of the best kickers in program history. 2) 6A Ryle (8-3 in 2017) – After a disappointing first round exit from the playoffs last season, Ryle will be working hard to prove in 2018 that their playoff loss to Butler last season was a flub that they won’t be dwelling on or repeating. Quarterback Jake Smith with be leading the offense along with seasoned running back Kyle England and offensive lineman Jacob Gideon. Linebacker Jackson Saladin will be leading the defensive side for the Raiders, with a strong cast of juniors and seniors coming in to fill roles vacated by last year’s graduates. Keep an eye out this season for defensive back Elijah Cusick, tackle Keegan Points, and D-ends Jack Cleveland & Cooper White. It will also be fun to see what D1 recruit Mason Molique will do this year for the Ryle kicking game. 3) 6A Simon Kenton (11-2 in 2017) – The Pioneers have two tasks at hand in 2018: regaining the title of top 6A team in NKY by beating Ryle, and getting past the Louisville powerhouse schools to advance further towards the 6A championship. Their first task for Coach Marksberry is to find a replacement for quarterback Matt Shearer, who will be playing D2 college football at Concord University in 2018, as well as replacing 8 other starters lost to graduation. Caleb Farfsing is likely to start at QB after backing up Shearer last season. They will be returning two solid RB’s this season in junior Austin Hammack and senior Jon Sergent. The offensive line will be anchored by Treyvon Nash, who will also be the big returning man on the defensive line. Defensively, senior linebackers Bryson Pernell & Clay Cogswell will be key returning seniors as well, along with D-backs Brady Nipper & David LeCount. Simon Kenton will be strong, but their success will hinge primarily on the offense coming together for them this season. 4) 1A Beechwood (12-2 in 2017) – Beechwood is one of two teams looking to defend a state championship from 2017. And like Covington Catholic, the Tigers will have to replace a star quarterback in Brayden Burch, along with athlete James Davis, and receiver/defensive backs Jake Massie & Daniel Mescher. The Tigers are likely to rely on sophomore Highlands transfer Cameron Hergott, nephew of Beechwood quarterbacking legend and current assistant coach Greg Hergott. They are also very fortunate to be returning workhorse players like senior WR/DB Logan Castleman, senior OL/DL Adam Derry, and his younger brother, junior RB/DB Josh Derry. Twin brothers Dayton & Duncan Baugh will also be back to anchor the offensive and defensive lines for their senior season. Coach Noel Rash and the Beechwood Tigers will definitely find themselves contending for the top spot in Kentucky’s 1A class for the 2018 season. 5) 5A Highlands (6-6 in 2017) – After a couple of rough seasons in ’16 and ’17, the Birds are working on fighting their way back into form for 2018. They will be starting that off on offense with returning starters Cooper Schwalbach at running back, Nate Roberts at tight end, and Austin King at wide receiver. Senior Grady Cramer will be replacing Carl Schoellman at quarterback after backing him up last season. Their offensive and defensive lines are not going to be the largest in NKY, but historically that has not been anything to stop the Birds from having their way with the ball. Still, it’s their play at the line of scrimmage that is likely to be the key to Highlands’ success in 2018. Coach Weinrich and his staff also have their work cut out replacing starters this season on D, and will be relying heavily on senior linebackers Alex Starkey and cornerback Bailey Armstrong for leadership. Junior Brycen Huddleston is also someone to watch at linebacker, as well as Max Dierig at defensive end. 6) 2A Newport Central Catholic (6-6 in 2017) – New Cath will be back in 2018 with stud running back Kyle Kelly back for his senior season, and returns junior quarterback Paul Kremer to lead the offense. Their O-line returns a good amount of beef, as well as a couple of promising up-and-comers. On defense, again, Kyle Kelly is the obvious big name, joined by junior linebacker Daniel Craig, junior defensive lineman Tanner Daunt, senior defensive backs Hunter Cain, Hezekiah Miller, and junior defensive backs Caleb Jefferson & Aubrey Posey. With a new head coach and staff, it’s going to be exciting to see what Coach Steve Lickert and the Breds can do to improve on their 6-6 season last year, and try to re-capture the top spot in their district. New Cath definitely has the potential to be a very strong 2A team in 2018. 7) 6A Campbell County (7-5 in 2017) – The Camels have a new head coach for 2018 in former Ryle assistant coach Mike Woolf. Coach Woolf is familiar with the Campbell County program, after having been an assistant there previous to moving to his position at Ryle. The first big job on offense is finding replacements for QB Austin Hoeh and all-star running back Alex Dowds. The quarterback position will be decided between senior Andrew Helton and junior Nick Cartwright, with Helton likely to get the starting nod. They have a large group of big seniors returning to the line, most of whom play both offensively and defensively. And they also have seniors RB Grant Jolly, WR Brady Singleton and WR Reid Jolly to help with the offensive game. The defense will be led by DE Tanner Lawrence and LB Peyton Anderson, with Brady Singleton and Reid Jolly joining in the defensive backfield as well. It will be interesting to see whether or not Coach Woolf will continue to use so many of the players on this 6A program on both sides of the ball this season. 8) 6A Cooper (2-9 in 2017) – The Jags are hoping to put last year behind them this season, after having a disappointing 2-9 season in the wake of graduating nearly all of their starting talent from the season before. Cooper is likely to have a sophomore quarterback this season in Jeremiah Lee, after Lee became the primary QB out of 3 contenders last season in his freshman year. Mikey Armour, who also spent some time as QB, is likely to spend all of his offensive time this season at WR, while also playing in the defensive backfield. Junior Jayden Maynard is also going to be a likely target at WR. Senior Michael Spencer, who spent much of last season waiting for transfer approval, looks to be a real talent for the Jags at tight end and linebacker, and Michael Attabary will be the anchor on both the offensive and defensive lines in his senior season. Cooper was young last season, and will be looking to make much better on things this season after spending a year rebuilding. 9) 6A Conner (4-7 in 2017) – The Cougars will be back in 2018 with one primary mission: beat more 6A teams. The team only managed a single win last season over a team from their same classification with their Week 1 win over Boone County. Their remaining wins came against two 2A teams and a 4A team. They will have senior RB Christian Webster back, helping to spark the offense, with junior Jared Hicks coming in at QB. They will also be relying heavily on senior receivers Tate Niederman & Ayden Camp. Their offensive line will be anchored by senior David Seal, alongside juniors Michael Neal & Zane Cahill who both play OL/DL and Noah Benza who plays TE/DE. Conner’s linebacking corps will be led by senior Clayton Boyd, who led the team in tackles last season. D-back Andrew Davis will be another big defensive player, joined by two-way players Ayden Camp & Tate Niederman to round out the defensive backfield. 10) 4A Scott (8-4 in 2017) – In his 6 years as Scott’s head coach, Dan Wooley has led the Eagles to 38 wins. You would have to tally wins back over the course of more than fifteen seasons to find 38 total wins prior to Wooley taking over the program. This season, the mission is the same: keep improving. To do that, the Eagles will have senior quarterback Chad Ohmer to lead the offense this season, with junior RB Quincy Perrin in the backfield with him along with senior RB David Patrick. Senior receiver Sabeon Turner and junior O-linemen Eric Linton and Jacob Randall will also be part of their offensive backbone. Linton and Randall will also be on the D-line, with Perrin also playing both ways in the defensive backfield, as does Patrick at LB. Seniors Jerad Kelsey & Justin Grindstaff will also be leading the linebacking corps, and corner Kyren Simpson will round out the senior leadership on D. HONORABLE MENTION 2A Lloyd Memorial (8-4 in 2017) – Lloyd beat Newport Central Catholic last season for the first time in over 20 years to win their district. They graduated quite a few starters, including QB Jordan Fann who will be playing college ball at Thomas More this year. They have a solid group of offensive and defensive linemen returning, but the team’s success will depend largely on replacing starters in their skill positions. 5A Dixie Heights (3-8 in 2017) – Last season was a re-building year for Dixie. They were a young team with a lot of un-tested players. They have graduated a few starters again, but will have a good group of juniors coming in who saw significant playing time last season. Coach Brossart has turned over offensive play-calling to Kevin Siple, a very experienced assistant who brings a lot of knowledge from over a decade of previous head coaching experience. GAME OF THE WEEK: WEEK 0 1A Ludlow vs. 2A Carroll County It's Panthers versus Panthers. Carroll County heads up the river to take on Ludlow on the banks of the Ohio at James Rigney Memorial Stadium. Ludlow handle Carroll County comfortably last year, winning 56-39, but after losing team all-star Justin Blackburn, this game could make for a much more interesting match-up this year.
  3. Bluegrasspreps.com is excited to provide Regional Power Rankings for the entire state by breaking the state into five regions: Eastern Kentucky, Central Kentucky, Northern Kentucky, Western Kentucky and the Louisville Area. The Power Rankings will overview which teams are at the top in their region, regardless of class. The weight of wins and loses are subjective to the quality of the opponents and the team's performance. This means all wins or losses will not be seen as equal. In addition to the Top 10 in each region, the Power Rankings will include: two Big Risers of the week that are moving up but have not yet made it into the Top 10, two Big Droppers of the week that have dropped further away from the Top 10, the Game of the Week that you won't want to miss reading about, and the Player of the Week for each region. Below is the Pre-Season Edition of the Louisville Area Power Rankings! 1. Trinity (6A State Champions, 15-0) The Shamrocks will be looking for their third consecutive 6A State Championship as they head into the 2018 season. The Rocks graduated QB Nick Bohn and WR Rondale Moore, but do return their two leading rushers from 2017, Luke McGuire and Gereimah Smith. Senior DE and Stanford commit Stephen Herron will anchor the Rocks defense again this season, and look to lead them back to another state title. 2. St. Xavier (6A Runner Up, 12-3) The Tigers fell to their arch rivals in the 6A Championship in December, but the story around this program is the change at the top of the ladder, with the hiring of former Bowling Green Coach Kevin Wallace. With years of success at BG, Wallace looks to utilize the talent and depth at St. X, and look for a difference in the Tigers’ offense in the coming season. Returning four seniors to a stingy defense from a year ago will make St. X a problem on defense again in 2018. 3. Male (6A Third Round, 9-3) After a disappointing second round exit from the 2017 playoffs, the Bulldogs will look to re-establish their spot in Louisville’s “Big 3.” With senior RB Henry Vestal who rushed for over 1,000 yards a season ago returning, look for Male to use him to open up their passing game. They also return three veteran defenders who accounted for over 200 tackles last season, in Joe Kuerzi, Dallas Douglass and Jack Lucas. 4. Christian Academy - Louisville (2A Semifinals, 11-3) Coming off a hard fought loss to Mayfield in the 2A Semifinals a year ago, The Centurions are once again loaded on the offensive side of the ball, even with the departure of their QB from a year ago, Austin Carr. CAL returns Brandt Babin (Soph., 736 rushing yards), Harrison Zimmerer (Jr., 388 rushing yards), and Milton Wright (Sr., 346 rushing, 685 receiving yards). The Centurions will also be very solid on defense, with Austin Collins, Luke Paulson, and Jake Taylor chasing down ball carriers. If Coach LeFors can find a replacement for Carr, watch out for CAL. 5. DeSales (2A Third Round, 12-1) The Colts were dominant for the majority of the 2017 campaign, but eventually lost to their crosstown rivals, CAL, in the third round of the 2A playoffs. They return senior QB Aaron Pfaadt who did a great job in 2017 distributing the wealth around to his teammates, and the Colts will look to him to lead them again in 2018. 6. Elizabethtown (3A Semifinals, 12-2) The Panthers had an impressive showing in 2017, falling only to CAL, and eventual 3A State Champion, Boyle County. The question for E-town will be how they will replace the offense produced by graduating seniors Jay Becherer, Tyler Durbin and Jey Gregory. If the Panthers can do so, look for them to be a force again in 3A. 7. Central (3A Semifinals, 11-3) With only three losses in 2017, two of which came by two local 6A schools, the Yellow Jackets look to post another impressive run in 2018. Returning offensive leaders Mykah Williams and Ukrari Baker will pave the way for Central this season. 8. Collins (4A Semifinals, 11-3) The Titans fell just one game short of playing for a 4A State Championship in 2017, and will have the task of replacing the dynamic JR Lucas’ 3,700 yards. Leading WR Sicari Toole returns for his senior season, and will look to lead the Titan offense. 9. Central Hardin (6A Semifinals, 10-4) Coming off a deep playoff run in 2017, the Bruins will return senior QB Jacob Hobbs and RB Josh Volentine to a team that lost in the 6A Semifinals to eventual champion, Trinity. Can Central Hardin build off last year and make another run to the title? 10. South Oldham (5A Second Round, 10-2) The Dragons posted an impressive 10-game winning streak during the 2017 season, but fell to eventual 5A State Champion Covington Catholic in the playoffs. They return RB Keaton Martin who will likely be the focus of the Dragon offense in 2018. Game of the Week: Week 1 6A St. Xavier vs. 2A DeSales Both teams coming off disappointing end to their 2017 season will be looking to make a statement early with this incredible Week 1 matchup. The Tigers will travel eight miles to take on the Colts in what will surely be the best game in the region on opening weekend. 9. 1. 6A Male (3-0) The boys in Purple and Gold posted their third straight dominating performance last week, posting a 50-0 drubbing of 5A Doss. As they look ahead to this week, they face their first real test of 2018, when they visit the Trinity Shamrocks. A win over the Shamrocks would solidify the Bulldogs spot at the top of the Power Rankings, and also validate them as the best team in the state of Kentucky. 2. 6A Trinity (0-3) In a game that was stopped in the third quarter due to weather, Trinity gave up a first half lead and again found themselves on the losing end of a third straight contest, falling to Archbishop Moeller (OH) 21-14. This is the first time since 2003 Trinity has started 0-3. That year, the Rocks lost a fourth game to open the season, and then ran off 11 in a row to win a 4A State Title. Trinity hosts their first in-state and cross town foe in the 6A Male Bulldogs. All eyes will be on Marshall Stadium this Friday as we find out who is the King of the Carpet in Kentucky. 3. 3A Central (3-0) The Yellow Jackets finally gave up points in 2018, but not very many. Central improved to 3-0 on the year defeating 5A Fern Creek 25-6. Quintez Payton led the defensive attack with two interceptions, one which he returned for a touchdown. QB Malik Goodall also put on a show, accounting for 377 total yards and 3 TD's. A frequent target for Goodall, WR Ukrari Baker, had a nice day with 146 yards receiving and a touchdown. Central travels to 6A Ballard this week. 4. 2A DeSales (3-0) After back to back weeks of high drama, hail mary's and 6A opponents, DeSales had a less-eventful contest last week, beating 1A Holy Cross (Louisville) 28-3. The Colts have the week off, before they take on 5A Fern Creek on 9/14. 5. 2A Christian Academy - Louisville (3-0) CAL kept rolling in Week 3, dispatching 6A Central Hardin 49-21. Brandt Babin led the way for the Centurions, rushing for 112 yards and two scores. Harrison Zimmerer added another 2 TD's on the ground. CAL travels to 3A Elizabethtown this Friday. 6. 6A Butler (2-1) The Bears bounced back after a disappointing last-minute loss last week to DeSales, dominating 4A Western 46-0. Butler will jump back up in competition this week, travelling across town to 5A Fern Creek. 7. 6A Saint Xavier (0-2) Even with two weeks to prepare, Saint X wasn't able to get their first victory of 2018, falling to Coach Wallace's former team, the 5A Bowling Green fighting Vito Tisdale's, 24-21 in overtime. The Tigers have looked far from comfortable on offense to this point, something that will need to be corrected sooner rather than later. Their opponent this week is 5A Fairdale, where the Tigers should FINALLY get Coach Wallace's 300th career win. 8. 5A Oldham County (2-0) The Colonels return to action this Friday after a BYE week, where they will try to extend their clean defensive slate against 4A Collins. If OC can get the win, it will be the programs best start in more than 20 years. 9. 4A Moore (3-0) Building on their nice start in 2018, Moore took care of 6A Seneca 51-6 last Friday. The Mustang defense racked up four sacks and two fumble recoveries en route to the decisive victory. They will look to extend their winning streak to four this week, as they travel to 6A Jeffersontown. 10. 6A Pleasure Ridge Park (2-1) After being run out of the building last week by 5A power Bowling Green, the Panthers rebounded this week with a 21-14 victory over 6A Eastern. They will travel down I-65 this week to take on 6A North Hardin, in a game both teams will be looking to improve to 3-1. Trending Up: No One - Pretty static this week on this front. Could see some movement in the coming weeks. Trending Down: Saint Xavier - While the Tigers will likely get in the W column this week, their season is still very much up in the air having fallen back to back weeks to opponents in lower classes. Now, DeSales and Bowling Green are certainly no slouches, as they will both contend for titles in their respective classes, but both are games the Tigers likely should have won. Game of the Week: 6A Trinity vs. 6A Male Not only the GOTW in the region, likely the entire state. While there is A LOT of football left to play this season, the winner of this game will rightfully be the heavy favorite to win the 6A title this December. Trinity is win-less, having played a stellar schedule thus far, while Male has dominated all three of their opponents in 2018. All eyes will be on Marshall Stadium this Friday. Last Week's GOTW: 5A Bowling Green 24 6A Saint Xavier 21 (OT) Even through the weather delay, this one lived up to the hype for those in attendance. It was a great atmosphere for high school football! For those that had never seen him play, Vito Tisdale showed everyone just why he is so highly touted and sought after. The kid can play (he was the best player on the field, big surprise right!?), and the fact that he is only a Junior is crazy. Player of the Week - QB Malik Goodall, Central Passing: 11/25, 198 yards 1 TD Rushing: 22 attempts, 179 yards, 2 TD

  20. (August 24th, 2018) Be sure to post your winners and assign each of them one of the following point values (7-5-3-2-1) based on how strongly you feel that that team will win. (Please note that if your selections are NOT in the specified format, your ENTIRE set of picks will be voided.) 7 5 3 2 1 1st Tiebreaker 2nd Tiebreaker: Time of post. The games this week for the Louisville Area Regional contest are: Fern Creek vs Manual Iroquois vs Jefferstown DeSales vs Butler John Hardin vs North Hardin Trinity vs Warren Central (IN) Be sure to pick ONE winner for each game and to indicate the point value. 24. As we enter September things are starting to shuffle a little bit in the Central Kentucky Area. Teams we didn’t know much about are starting to grow and show confidence. Teams we knew about are performing to expectations, exceeding expectations or failing to live up to expectations. As we get deeper into September teams should be getting better each day but that isn’t always the case. How is your favorite team doing right now? Let’s take a look. Top Ten: 1. Scott County(6A, 3-0)- Scott County grabbed their third victory of the year as they defeated Highlands 28-7 in a weather shortened game. Using their strong ground game they churned out 226 yards rushing. Austin Burnett had 121 of those yards and he also had a touchdown as well. Next up for Scott County is Archbishop Moeller(OH) this Friday night. 2. Frederick Douglass(6A, 3-0)- Frederick Douglass also grabbed their third win of the season as they dismantled Paintsville 57-7. Cameron Jones once again flashed his efficiency in passing the ball as he was 14-18 for 283 yards and 3 touchdowns. Demarco Fishback caught all 3 of those touchdown passes and Fishback also added 2 more touchdowns on the ground for a total of 5 touchdowns in the game. Next up for Frederick Douglass will be Lafayette on Friday night. 3. Boyle County(3A, 3-0)- The Rebels are still rolling along and while the scoreboard says they won 34-17 against Danville this game was more of a grind-it-out type of win for Boyle County. Landen Bartleson finished the game with 3 rushing touchdowns to help lead Boyle County past their crosstown rival, the Danville Admirals. Next up for the Rebels will be Wayne County this Friday night. 4. Lexington Catholic(3A, 3-0)- Lexington Catholic continues to show a superior passing offense as they manhandled Lafayette 33-7. Beau Allen passed for 396 yards and 4 touchdowns and Lexington Catholic continues to put up huge numbers in the air and on the scoreboard. Next up for Lexington Catholic is crosstown private school rival, Lexington Christian Academy. 5. Anderson County(5A, 3-0)- Anderson County is the first team to make a move in the rankings this week as they won a weather shortened game against Mercer County by the score of 28-0. Anderson County is a team that has been exceeding my expectations so far but their schedule will get tougher as the season continues and we will learn more about them then. Next up for Anderson County will be Valley. 6. Madison Central(6A, 2-1)– Madison Central struggled to get anything going against a strong Southwestern team this past weekend. As a result they slide down a spot in the Power Rankings but never fear, crosstown rival, Madison Southern is their next opponent and that looks to be a favorable matchup for a bounce back game. 7. Danville(2A, 1-2)- Danville is the only team with a losing record in this week’s rankings and to be quite honest I flirted with the possibility of ranking them as high as #5. Danville is better than their record suggests as they have completed the toughest part of their schedule after last week’s loss to Boyle County. They have a winnable matchup against Pulaski County this week and my prediction is that this will be the lowest that we will see Danville ranked the rest of the season. 8. Franklin County(4A, 2-1)- Franklin County enjoyed a big 48-24 win over Woodford County last Friday night. Nick Broyles was 12-18 passing for 212 yards and 4 touchdowns and Franklin County put up 262 yards rushing to go along with Broyles passing yards. Franklin County will have this week off as the prepare for their next game on September 14th at Anderson County. 9. Montgomery County(5A, 2-1)-Montgomery County enters the Power Rankings for the first time this season after defeating Harrison County 34-14 last weekend. Justin Krossy and Josh Wheaton have been carrying the load for Montgomery County on the ground this year and Wide Receiver, Pharoah Davis has been the team’s leading receiver to give Montgomery County three viable threats on offense. Huge game this week for Montgomery County as they travel to George Rogers Clark to take on their rival. 10. George Rogers Clark(6A, 2-1)- George Rogers Clark also enters the Power Rankings for the first time this season as well. After starting off the season being shut out by Anderson County, George Rogers Clark has won two games in a row and look to make it three in a row this Friday night against rival Montgomery County. As expected, Nitavius Thomas has been a stud for GRC and he looks to carry them to a victory this Friday night. Teams on the Rise: There are several teams in the Central Kentucky Area that have caught my eye this past week. Two entered the Power Rankings this week and a couple more are worthy of being discussed in those ranks as well. West Jessamine(5A, 2-1)- West Jessamine has had a good start to the season after losing in Week 1. We should learn more about them after their matchup with Russell County this week. Lincoln County(5A, 2-1)- Lincoln County suffered a humiliating loss in Week 1 but have won two in a row, including a 35-20 win against rival, Garrard County. A matchup against a better-than-their-record-suggests, East Jessamine team, is up next this Friday. Last week’s Game of the Week results: Scott County 28 Highlands 7 Scott County used their strong ground game and top notch defense to control the Highlands Bluebirds in a weather shortened game. All indications pointing to this game being a running clock game as it was called with about 3 minutes left in the second quarter. Scott County outgained Highlands 252 yards to 22 yards as Scott County seemingly dominated this game of this series once again. Game of the Week - 9-7-18 Montgomery County at George Rogers Clark This week’s Game of the Week is a rivalry game between two schools in the Central Kentucky Area that have no love lost for one another. Both teams are sitting with 2-1 records as they both aim to get their third victory of the season on Friday night. Montgomery County will bring their three offensive threats, Justin Krossy, Josh Wheaton and Pharoah Davis into Winchester to take on Nitavius Thomas and GRC as GRC looks to get some revenge for last year’s 51-21 thumping by Montgomery County. This should be one of the better games in the CKY region this weekend. Wandale Robinson Watch: Week 3: BYE Yearly stats to date: 34 rushes, 323 yards, 4 touchdowns 4 receptions, 196 yards, 3 touchdowns 1 punt return touchdown 8 total touchdowns 16 total tackles(9 solo) 1 interception Player of the Week: Nick Broyles- Franklin County-QB- 12-18-212 yards, 4 touchdowns, 8 carries, 105 yards, 1 touchdown Top Performers: Demarco Fishback- Frederick Douglass-RB- 107 total yards, 5 total touchdowns Beau Allen- Lexington Catholic-QB- 22-33-396 yards, 4 touchdowns, 1 interception. Nitavius Thomas- George Rogers Clark- 19 carries, 134 yards, 3 touchdowns Pharoah Davis- Montgomery County- 6 receptions, 105 yards, 1 touchdown
