  1. I think the kid will have a strong senior year but two years ago he was not physically ready to be a varsity qb - as is the case with most sophomores.

This is Dale building up his guy which I'm cool with but this is too much for me.

Seems to be working for Dale.

  2. I would have to agree with this. Ryle threw quite a few pitchers including CF Thomas Baumann who hasn't thrown a pitch in a game situation all year. I think Coach Roesel was just trying to keep some arms loose going into tournament time. Now I will say I was a little disappointed in the hitting performance or lack thereof. Ryle is a much better offensive team than what they demonstrated in this game. Highlands on the other hand seemed to find all the holes and demonstrated a much better hitting performance. I don't have the stats at hand but would guess the number of hits to be VERY lopsided in favor of the Birds.

Ryle players may not have wanted to win, but I can tell you Coach Rosel wanted to win. It was very evident.

  3. Nice way to finish up before tourney time..

Good showing by the Birds. Hitting and pitching both were present today. Defense would have been had the 25 minutes of rain stayed away. Birds prove once again they can play with anyone when they show up. Hopefully the next two weeks lead to a regional title!

  4. I don't believe that Highlands is the best JV team. Highlands has lost 6 games. Highlands has lost to CCH twice. CHH has lost to Ryle twice. Highlands and CCH both runned ruled Ryle. I think this is a 3 horse race.

Only 6 losses at the JV level is pretty good considering its a team that is constantly being manipulated. Very rarely do they have the same guys everyday with guys going up to Varsity and down to frosh depending on the needs. Coach Reynolds does a great job with this team.

  5. Did I hear correctly that there was a "catchers balk" called in this game? Any details of the play?

I heard the same thing. Seems like I did some looking into since I had no idea what it was and this is what I found.

"On June 24, 2004, John Shulock called such a balk on the Braves' Greg Maddux when he pitched while catcher Fernando Lunar's foot was out of the box. Bobby Cox argued the call and was ejected. The night before, Brewers' manager Davey Lopes had asked the umpires to enforce the rule against the Braves' catcher Javy Lopez, who was setting up far outside the box. This appears to be the only time this balk has been called in decades.

Major League crew chief Tim McClelland has written "As a matter of fact, I have never seen it called, it's one of those things you just kind of let slide."

Apparently it doesnt get called in MLB, but it does in NKAC. The guy has issues.....

  6. Senior Alex Grau (Shawnee state signee) was also 3-4 with 3 RBI. Junior jake Pangallo 2-4 with a double. Zack Pangallo continues to lead the Breds attack. Michael Bueter pitched well and got the win. Big week for the Breds coming up. All A sectional game against Brossart on Monday, district seeding game against Highlands on Thursday. Good luck Breds!

    Where is this game?
