Also, it was stated that the "presser" will be at Rupp Arena on Sunday....more details to come.

Should be open to the public to attend....Let's fill it up BBN! If I wasn't too busy being a dad, I would be there for sure.

I kinda wanna go too Frank.

I would assume most of the roster will end up being transfers, and a few players that maybe decide to stay. Which is the one good thing about how things are today. He can still build a very good roster, since you don’t have to rely on recruiting high schoolers anymore.

On KSR, during the Barnhart interview, he mentioned two recruits who wouldn't go to BYU, who have reached back out to Mark Pope. FWIW.

So it was best for you, for them to sell alcohol.

Maybe allowing in the the suites was a test run before going stadium wide.

Either way, he relented and allowed it...even if it wasn't as fast as you'd have preferred.

Best for the athletic program. For me personally, I just wanted to say I worked a UK game.

The amount of money a school like Kentucky can make on alcohol sales at football games is through the roof. I very much witness it at UC with a much smaller venue. We are talking millions.

So yeah, it didn't sit well with me that his personal morals were more important than the betterment of the athletic program. He relented because he probably didn't have a choice if he didn't.

Another thing on Pope, the dude has basketball in his blood.  The guy super smart was going to Med School to be a Doctor!!!  After a few years at Med School, said you no what I miss basketball too much and want to get into coaching!  This guy is going to put every ounce into this program.

Plus in my mind I just (it's a feeling I get) think he is going to care more about hanging Final Four/Championship banners in Rupp then recruiting 1st round NBA draft picks.  I just feel like he is going to build a team that is built to WIN in college for his beloved UK Wildcats.  I realize I am bias b/c I can't stand NBA and could care less that Cal has 50+ UK players playing or played in the NBA, what I care about is the fact that he had all that NBA talent and we hung 1 Championship banner in Rupp in 15 years!

I can't compare what he has done at Utah Valley and BYU and think its going to hinder his ability to succeed at UK.  It's like The Field of Dreams, if he builds it, People will Come!!!  When People show up, so will their $$$$.  I love the fact that he will have all those Old School Mid 1990s players around the program when BBN was created!!!!

Kool - Aid has been drunk baby!!!!

I'm riding with you. Told myself that I only had until midnight to be negative about it.

And according to Matt Jones, the money is already coming. 2 donors have pledged $4million to NIL to help build Pope's Program.

The amount of money made from alcohol either way isn't a game changer for UK athletics. There are worse things than having an AD with morals.

Do you work UK games too, or just Reds/Bengals?

I did work a couple of games this past year.

His morals didn't stop from allowing it in the suites for the big donors of the program. Just the common fans.

Completely agree, give him a chance, lots of people keep harping on the fact he hasn’t won a NCAA tournament game in his career, well, that’s 1 less than what Cal won during the same time frame so go to work Coach Pope!!!

Not career. He's been coaching Division 1 since 2015-2016.

But the same time frame as his tenure at BYU.

That's what you can't get past? That it took an extra year for beer sales...really?

    SMH!

    Yes.

Shows that Barnhart cared more about his personal morals/values than doing what is best for the athletic program.

Clearest signal yet that Barhart isn't long for Lexington. I already thought he might retire before having to deal with possibly firing Cal. Now if he hires Pope, it will be up to next AD to fire him or give him an extension in a few years. Barnhart will be long retired from UK by then.

I want to say don't let the door hit you, but he has done a lot of good for UK.

However, I will never get past limiting beer sales the first year after the SEC allowed it, because of his personal values.

  9. Giving myself one night.

Tomorrow, I'm all in on Mark Pope leading us to #9. But tonight...many wanted anyone but Calipari. Anything is better than another year of Caliapri. I'm sick over the last few weeks. I hate this. Many of BBN should really look in the mirror tonight, myself included (we all have different reasons).

    Tonight...this sucks.

Tomorrow, we ride with Pope to #9.

When he said he was taking the day to think about it, I didn't think he'd come.  I think Kentucky is a job that if you want it, you take it when it's offered ASAP.

I'd imagine he wanted it, but needed his family (e.g. Wife, MIL, and kids) to get on board and they didn't.

  11. Just watched Hurley on Colin Cowherd's show and I'm convinced that Hurley's agent fed Cowherd the "Future" question and it was worded in such a softball pitch to Hurley for him to easily shut it all down. I was 99.5% sure Hurley wasn't going to be the next Kentucky Coach, but I've made it to 100% now.

Name I've seen out there and seems to be getting no love is Tommy Lloyd of Arizona.   He has quietly been stellar in the wake of Sean Miller's departure.

He's been discussed amongst my friends and I, but yeah you don't really see his name floating around anywhere. Our consensus, do you want to roll the dice on someone that hasn't been as established or really accomplished much yet?

I couldn’t care less, to be honest. His personality couldn’t be farther from what’s needed at Louisville, and he doesn’t worry me in the least about what he will do at UK.

I've said it a few times and I will say it again. UL got the exact type of guy they needed right now.

Tom Izzo not an option? Did I miss something and he has said he wouldn’t couldn’t UK if contacted?

If UK doesn’t get one of the four main targets talked about in Hurley, Oats, Drew, and Donovan. Then I think Izzo would be one of the next group of coaches contacted. He is very similar to Drew in how they both have been at one place a long time, and both won a title. Only difference is obviously Drew’s is much more recent, however Izzo has much more tournament success. So unless Izzo has already came out and said no, I think he very well could be a serious option if UK wanted to go that route.

I just don't think they would consider him and not sure he'd want to be considered. He's almost 70. Maybe a hot take, I don't think he's in the game too much longer.

  15. Gonna try and sell myself a little more on Scott Drew.

Only 7 current coaches have a NCAA title (8 if ya count Donovan).

    Calipari - Not an Option
    Izzo - Not an Option
    Self - Not an Option
Hurley - Please Sweet Baby Jesus
    Donovan - Bad Timing
Pitino - Idk what to say
    Bennett - Barf
    Scott Drew

  16. Remember in 2009, we heard over and over from other fanbases that Calipari would get Kentucky in trouble, vacate wins, lose banners, Asterix and etc. He leaves without any of that happening at Kentucky, while plenty of other programs during that time can't say the same.

UK fans would revolt over a guy with a title (Drew), but not over guys who cheated and don't have anything to show for it (Miller, Wade)?

UK fans will lose their mind if Will Wade is the next coach. I think many are comfortable and have come to terms that it will probably be Scott Drew, or they are sure hoping it will be because they don't want to start digging into the 2nd tier.
