Seeing those stats and the number of turnovers Bryan Station had puts a damper on this score. If Bryan Station doesn't have all those turnovers plus allowing an onside kick recovery, this looks more like a 21-7 type of matchup.

and if someone’s aunt had other apparatus (not taking into account today’s society), she’d be their uncle.

Trinity had a large part in those FIVE turnovers.

I hate how their fans act. I never had to play against the school, but I’ve been around the fans enough times to know how insane they behave in moments like this.

Do you not think that we shouldn’t win this game?

I would.  You’re not involved with the program.

Continue to hate, we’ll deal with it for now, then do what we have to do.

  3. To add a little to this.  While I think Cobb is a decent coach, I have heard some serious rumblings of some back stabbing, and some disarray in the locker room at Trinity.

Once that starts, it's massively difficult to get rid of.

We did just hire, who I believe to be, the very best possible Freshman Head Coach.  That will pay huge huge huge dividends for multiple reasons.

Isn't it a little soon to be drawing conclusions on Cobb as a head coach? I get that the standard at Trinity is different, but after losing the senior laden lineup of 2020, I thought a year or two to reload was a reasonable expectation. If I were a Trinity fan, I wouldn't lose sleep over losing the out of state games, as long as they're winning all  of the in-state games. I'm content to ride out this year and see what happens in 2023. Then again, I'm not one of you.

As far as St. Xavier having the momentum right now, I feel inclined to give more credit to their GOAT coach for finally being the right guy for the job. Obviously, Trinity losing its GOAT plays a factor there, but I can't lay this on Cobb.... yet.

    Who is X’s GOAT coach?

    we have a few.

  5. NLTanker is right.  It really isn't a knock on Cobb as a coach.  He is very solid.  I would argue that he is an elite defensive coordinator.  However, being the head coach at our program, comes with it, a lot.  You have decades of brothership, you have a trophy case full of trophies.  You have EXPECTATIONS.  I know the schedule is brutal, but it's been a tough schedule for decades.  Losing seasons are unacceptable.  We are looking down the barrel of a second losing season.  Allowing for X to have the momentum, and not putting fear into our opponents.

Obviously, I hope that Cobb succeeds.  I really really do.  Currently nothing is showing me that the dominance will be back anytime soon.  Not only did we lose last week, we got dominated.  That simply doesn't happen.  Sadly, it won't be the last time, this season, that it happens.

  6. Happy with the win….but that’s in the rear view mirror now.  Offensively we have extensive work to do.  We are missing that explosiveness that we are accustomed to.

I love our defense, but this will not be the offense of old.  That’s going to take some getting used to, and it will hurt us in a couple of games this season.

Areas that stuck out to me:

    protection

    route running

    North / south running

    passing

Alas, it’s just week 1, and it was a W.  So I’m happy.

  7. I have only hearsay to report.  This team is still very very young, with a lot of key parts to replace. They have the talent, but now the rubber meets the road.  The defense looks to be stout.  Can they win this tough road opener?  I'm not sure.  But I do know that they're up for the challenge.  I'm just not sure that's enough in a Week 1 scenario.  However, it poses a great learning opportunity.  I look for a close battle, that will point towards a successful 2022 campaign.
