I think smokeless tobacco is banned on the field in all levels of minor league baseball, but not MLB. Obviously those players might still do it away from the stadium.

Artificial Intelligence Creates All Districts
gchs_uk9 replied to common_sense_eagle's topic in KY Football (High School)
There's really no reason for the KHSAA not to use this in districting. I don't want to overburden you @common_sense_eagle, but can you do the same thing for basketball?! -
2024 Paducah Tilghman Blue Tornado
gchs_uk9 replied to DevilMayCare's topic in KY Football (High School)
Russellville is typically solid but after their run to the finals they graduated a ton. They might want to cancel, but they might also want to challenge themselves against a top-tier program like Tilghman in an effort to help prepare themselves for the better teams in Class 1A. -
2024 Paducah Tilghman Blue Tornado
gchs_uk9 replied to DevilMayCare's topic in KY Football (High School)
While your point is valid, I think many people thought last year's Tilghman team was a better matchup for Boyle than CovCath. Football is all about matchups and sometimes A is better than B, B better than C, but C better than A. I don't know if Paducah Tilghman will be good enough to beat Boyle County, but I do hope we get a chance to see those two teams play. -

It's just a different world, isn't it. The people in this photo would have likely been wondering what happened to the soda fountain shop on Main Street that nobody goes to anymore.

I don't think there really is anyone outside of Pope (remember, Ford was just fired from St. Louis). Of the six head coaches at Kentucky during the modern day, only Joe Hall was connected as a student/player, and he only played one season before transferring to Sewanee (although he was later an assistant coach to Rupp). Of course Tubby Smith was an assistant for a brief period as well. Kentucky has never really went the Duke/Carolina route of keeping it in house. That isn't a realistic option this time either.

Same. No way is Barnhart going to hire a "big personality"-type that will be bigger than the program. From all indications his relationship with Cal wasn't good. I think a more down-to-earth type of coach like Scott Drew is way more in line with Mitch's way of thinking.

They are so active both offensively and defensively. Just a joy of a team to watch. Far and away the best team in the country. -

Ed Mckinney named HC at Frankfort

Because there is more to coaching and teaching than winning regional titles. -

That is an excellent hire. Great coach and great guy. -
But UConn is getting closer and closer to that level. And for a New Jersey guy, I'm not sure he'd leave it.

The transfer rules meant that was going to happen no matter who gets hired. And it happens a low-, mid-, and high-major jobs. Its just the nature of the game currently.

In the newspaper article by Larry Vaught, Woods seemed pretty content to stay in Wayne County.

12th Region Off-Season Discussion (2024-2025)

Do you mean realignment of districts by the KHSAA? I think its coming but I'm not sure about a time-table. I don't know if it will have much of an affect on the 12th Region. -

Open Job: Wayne County
gchs_uk9 replied to 12th Region Fan's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Certainly sounded from Larry Vaught's article that Woods was pretty content to be retired, stay in Wayne County, and go watch Tennessee basketball. I can't see him going to another school, but if I had an opening I would most definitely call him. -
Which is funny after he spent two decades at South Laurel and a little time at Southwestern he's become something of a mercenary ever since.

2024 Lincoln County Patriots
gchs_uk9 replied to Shaquille_Oatmeal's topic in KY Football (High School)
Was there wiggle room on the contract? I think Lincoln was originally scheduled to play Lafayette last season but something came up and they added Scott County pretty last-minute. I'll assume it was a 2-year deal but someone more in the know can maybe confirm. -
Shohei Ohtani - Gambling Story

Put an advertisement on a uniform, add a couple teams to the playoffs, tell Shohei he's fine, call it a day!
