  1. I predict points aplenty ... with Caldwell having more.
  2. I left before the Mayfield game so I didn't get to see them. Madisonville looked good I thought. Sindelar threw a pick in that game that ended up being the difference and was Caldwell's only loss. Otherwise, I was pleasantly surprised by Caldwell's receivers, and that was with Eli Pepper still in Milwaukee playing basketball. And I already knew Sindelar could throw the football a little bit.:lol2:
  3. Oh no, Caldwell County waited so long they weren't able to get "exactly" the type of Bermuda they wanted. Had to settle for their second choice, which I'm sure will lead to someone getting hurt and someone else getting fired. Also, I have it on good authority that Caldwell will play several road games this year on fields they don't even own — heaven forbid someone gets hurt there!
  4. Caldwell County won the WKC 7-on-7 passing tourney on Saturday at Christian County. The Tigers went 3-1 in pool play, beating Todd County Central, Christian County and Marshall County, but losing a close game to Madisonville-North Hopkins. Caldwell then beat Marshall, Trigg County and Mayfield to win the tournament. I never put too much stock in the outcomes of passing tourneys because football certainly changes when blocking and tackling become a big part of the equation. However, it looks to me like Caldwell has an even deeper group of receivers than last year and it looks like the team is a little quicker defensively.
  5. Actually, there is no American Legion baseball field in Caldwell County (and never has been). The VFW Ballpark, where Caldwell plays its baseball games and is practicing football, is owned by the VFW, which leases the field to Youth Inc. and the high school (for a whole $1). Yes, the football field needs new turf. It is getting it next week. Caldwell doesn't have a home football game for 6-7 weeks. I was told the new turf would take hold in 2-3 weeks. That would seem to be sufficient time to me. This entire thread seems like a lot of worry over a complete non-issue. The guys I grew up with would have played ball in the parking lot and liked it! Society has changed a lot since then.
  6. In Caldwell County. The 1915 team went 6-0-0 and was named Western Kentucky Football Champions that season.
  7. Princeton High School's undefeated 1915 team.
  8. Caldwell County WR Eli Pepper has been offered by Murray State.
  9. I've always thought it was a bit unfair for some schools to get to play the regional on their home floor every other year, but short of going to Clarksville or Evansville (which would never ever happen) I'm not sure where else the 2nd Region tourney could be held. For my money, Hopkinsville's gym is the best in the region. But Madisonville is more centrally located. Broadcaster can correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Hopkins County schools once ban Madisonville from hosting the district tourney because their gym was considered too big of an advantage?
  10. I would add Caldwell's Jaylen Boyd to the Class of 2015 top returnees.
  11. Caldwell's girls have recorded 5 triple-doubles — 3 by Abbey Benton.
  12. I had him with 11, 18 and 11. Caldwell stats showed 11, 19 and 11. So I'm going with Caldwell's stats. First triple-down in Caldwell boys basketball.
  13. In this case, education really did trump sports. From a football only standpoint, I think Neal Brown's offense at UK is better suited to Sindelar. Especially since it's almost the exact same offense he's running at Caldwell County now! Purdue does some under-center stuff that Caldwell doesn't really do. The only time Sindelar is under center is usually in Victory formation. Ultimately, Purdue's engineering school was too much for Sindelar to pass up. I thought he was leaning that way for a long time, but with recruiting you never know for sure. Ralph Sampson was going to Kentucky up until the moment he stepped up to the mic and said "Virginia."
  14. You're right! I'm just going to say periods from now on. Saying eighths just wouldn't sound right. :lol2:
  15. I've always wanted eight 4-minute quarters. Leaves more time for bathroom and concession breaks. Also all games should be played under "make it, take it" rules. Seriously though, I don't see why we need to change anything, except maybe make some kind of effort toward more consistent officiating. And even that gets overblown sometimes. As long as there has been basketball there have been good refs and bad refs. I don't really see that changing. I just can't see any reason for any drastic changes to the game.
  16. Would sure be a lot cheaper to paint hash marks back on the floor than add shot clocks! I've never been a big shot clock fan. I actually like seeing teams try to win by playing different styles. I would actually rather see us go back to calling fouls, traveling and double-dribbling, but that's probably a whole 'nother argument. :lol2:
  17. Kendall can play either side of the line. Not sure what Georgetown's plans are for him.
  18. Believe whatever you like. I just like to warn people that because they read something somewhere it doesn't mean it's necessarily so.
  19. That rumor has made the rounds, but I've actually been told that's not the case at all. I also continue to read Sindelar is leaning to UK, but that hasn't always been the case either. You've got to love recruiting info.
  20. Two months ago, I would have said Sindelar was actually leaning toward Purdue. Probably a toss-up right now. I truly don't think he and his parents have made any decision yet.
  21. Purdue's Gerad Parker was there to watch Sindelar, so he apparently decided to put on a show! It's unreal how athletic the kid is. Sports are not as easy as he sometimes makes it look. Scary thing is, he could still get a lot better. Luke McCarty also had 22 points for Caldwell. Nice win for the Tigers against a very good Union County team. Looks like the 2nd Region has a lot of nice teams this year. I'm just not sure if any of them can touch Hopkinsville though.
  22. I think one of those kids is now at Caldwell, but is no longer playing basketball. Just not a lot of athletes in Dawson right now. Pretty much a no-win situation for Madisonville. Those lopsided scores never look good for anybody, but what can you do? It's a district game, and the 7th District is seeding now.
  23. Going to be interesting to see if Caldwell can compete with the best teams in the 2nd Region. Right now Hopkinsville looks scary good! Caldwell has a lot of athleticism, but I think only a couple of them would call basketball their best sport.
  24. No, Caldwell has a 6-8 basketball player that also played football. Eli Pepper. A junior. Most of Caldwell's top players are juniors and sophomores.
