  1. Joby Jaggers was 20 of 22 passing for 268 yards with TD passes of 8, 15 and 72 yards. He did throw two picks (so none of his passes ever hit the ground!) Caldwell was up 21-0 less than 6 minutes into the first quarter and the game was essentially decided. Why Union decided to start the game with an onside kick is beyond me. Caldwell got a short field, went and scored, and seemed to have great field position the entire night. Union had a great home crowd, but the early onslaught by Caldwell took all of the air out of that side of the field.
  2. First downs 23-12 in favor of Henderson. Offensive plays 82-37 in favor of Henderson. Yards 402-331 in favor of Henderson. Possession 36:20-11:40 in favor of Henderson. So, sure, Caldwell obviously won the game by two scores. :lol2: Oliver Parker had 3 catches for 192 yards — all touchdowns of 71, 78 and 43 yards. The first 3 touchdowns of his career. Caldwell just big-played Henderson. And the one turnover in the game, a fumbled punt return by Henderson, was huge.
  3. Wow, in 2011 Mayfield beat Caldwell 62-14. 62 points, run up the score maybe?
  4. Caldwell trailed 14-3 in the first quarter. But the Tigers scored on the final play of the opening stanza, then put up six touchdowns in the second quarter to go up 51-21 at halftime. Here are the times of Caldwell's second quarter TDs: 8:26 (3 yard TD run) 8:07 (32 yard INT return) 3:58 (11 yard TD pass) 3:42 (25 yard INT return) 3:11 (27 yard TD pass) 1:52 (8 yard TD pass) Crittenden threw six picks in the contest, lost a fumble and had a field goal blocked.
  5. That Tilghman-Graves game is tough to call. I think I would make Graves a slight favorite. Just because I think Graves has a little more offense. I still believe the Tilghman defense is pretty good, despite what Mayfield did to it. The key will be whether or not Graves can take care of the football. Take away the turnovers and Graves would have had a really good chance of winning at Caldwell County two weeks ago.
  6. Thanks Purple88! Great information as always. I look forward to this every week. Great discussion as well. I agree that I think Henderson County is improved this season. How much, I don't know yet. That Caldwell County at Henderson game next week could be mighty interesting.
  7. Well, I'm being told now that Caldwell County actually won the opening coin toss and deferred to the second half. However, I'm pretty sure the ref said on the field before the game that Graves County won and would receive. I still think you should always defer if you win the toss, but maybe that's just me.
  8. Graves' biggest mistake may have been deciding to receive the football after winning the opening coin toss. The Eagles ended up being pinned in their end the entire first quarter and gave up 21 points on a 13-yard fumble return touchdown on a bobbled punt snap, a 37-yard interception TD and a short-field TD after a punt return to the 28. So, if you win the coin toss, always defer! :thumb:
  9. Caldwell and Graves played in 1986 in Mayfield. Caldwell won 32-21. Still surprising they've only met one time. First trip to Princeton for the Eagles.
  10. Caldwell County also played extra innings in the KHSAA State Tournament last year at Whitaker Bank Ballpark, losing to Scott County 1-0 in eight innings.
  11. Quietly one of the best rivalries in western Kentucky. You don't hear much about it outside the two counties, but football, soccer, basketball and baseball games between the two schools are usually battles. That said, Caldwell has the better football program right now, and has won four straight in the series. I think the Tigers pull away for a 25-30 point win this week. Before Caldwell's current four-game streak, Trigg had taken 11 of the previous 15 meetings. So games in the series have typically been very competitive. The two schools are the longest continuous rivals on each other's schedules. The series not only goes back to consolidation at Caldwell in 1954, but the Tigers and Wildcats have played every year since 1947 going back to Princeton Butler High School. The very first meeting between Princeton Butler and Trigg was in 1938, but there was a break in the series from 1943-46. Overall, the Tigers lead 50-22-3.
  12. I haven't missed a Caldwell football game since the 1986 season, so Good Lord willing, I will be there! Caldwell actually had some really good teams back in the 1960s, but I think Tilghman was probably just a little better through that time. But that was just a little before me. I really feel like this could be a good game this week. Probably a little under-rated because of both teams' records but it looks pretty evenly matched to me.
  13. Thank you for putting this together each week :thumb: No biggie, but Caldwell and Tilghman have actually met 17 times, with Tilghman leading the all-time series 12-4-1. However, last year was their first meeting since 1973, which was Caldwell's last trip to Tilghman. Caldwell-Tilghman should be the best 2-3 team vs. 1-4 team game in the state this week!
  14. Caldwell County 2017 Schedule: Aug. 18 CHRISTIAN COUNTY Aug. 25 GRAVES COUNTY Sept. 1 at Hopkinsville Sept. 8 at Crittenden County Sept. 15 at Henderson County Sept. 22 PADUCAH TILGHMAN * Sept. 29 at Union County * Oct. 6 at Trigg County * Oct. 13 FORT CAMPBELL * Oct. 27 MAYFIELD * Class 3A 1st District games
  15. Yep, Craig is a 1968 graduate of Caldwell County. However, I believe Fred Clayton is from Madisonville. He did not go to school at Caldwell County.
  16. Caldwell has already added Graves County and Hopkinsville for 2017 and 2018 to replace Franklin-Simpson and North Hardin. I was told Franklin's coach said he wanted to play someone closer to home. It is a 2-hour trip on a bus from Franklin to Princeton, so that's a valid concern. I like the Franklin game, but Graves and Hoptown are a lot more manageable travel-wise for Caldwell. And both are still larger schools, so the Caldwell schedule doesn't really take a hit.
  17. You guys have obviously never gotten a call from an irate mom who swears her kid made "40 tackles" in Friday's game, then you look at the stat sheet and see the leading tackler that night had 12 ... and her son had five! :lol2:
  18. Note for future: Don't defer to the second half if there's not going to be a second half! :lol2:
