  1. :irked: ( ) You've been in SOME mood the last few days !! This good-natured (I assume) jabbing is a side of you I've not seen often. Did you win the Lottery, or something ?? (If so...we're buddies, right ?) :sssh:
  2. Geez, guys... Hasn't everyone agreed at some point that "the better team doesn't always win" ?? Each of the 4 winners in their title games proved only one thing...they played better ball than an opponent each week throughout the playoffs when it really counted.
  3. You have a little bit of "troublemaker" in you...
  4. I think we ALL agree.... "Effort (heart) matters" !!
  5. It all comes down to your particular definition of "parity" and the fact TN is roughly twice more populated. Looking at it from a "winning football" perspective... The best TN team should beat the best KY team two out of three years. From an "average wins" perspective... The mid-level teams from each state would be roughly equivalent. From the "losing football" perspective... The worst TN team should lose to the worst KY team two out of three years.
  6. (there's a lot more of me than you think... )
  7. Yeah, Compton or Huffman would have run the wishbone or veer-option at Belfry very well (then again, in '03 and '04 almost any competent ball-handler would have looked good with Howard and Jones). Too bad the two QB's weren't raised in Mingo Co.. The one problem Trev would have had...he was VERY right-handed. He had big trouble with the left-handed pitch. LOL...this was a big reason P-burg used the wishbone sparingly in '04. It was a dead-givaway we were likely going to the right side.
  8. Past tense, for sure. I was as surprised as you Russell was able dictate the game's tempo.
  9. True...but, you also said : "I won't argue with that premise, although this is the first year in some time that I felt the west side of 2A was better than the east half." (just a friendly reminder of your words, westsider... if things were reversed, you'd do the same for me... )
  10. Offering some edumacation to those po' Mingo Co. young 'uns is to be admired... ABSOLUTELY heartwarming !! ROFLMAO !!! you're priceless, CFJ !!
  11. Change a select few words and this is something I could have written after the '01 season...
  12. I don't have the energy for another 2A vs. 1A debate...so...I won't bite..
  13. This is also how I see it... :thumb: (I guess it's just about what one would expect, too: 4A winner, 4A runner-up, 3A winner, 2A winner, 1A winner, 3A runner-up, 2A runner-up, 1A runner-up)
  14. LOL... Russell's a lot closer to WV than Prestonsburg. Belfry, OTOH, is extremely close to the line (and they've enjoyed the benefits thereof ). The closest P-burg gets to the WV line is through Louisa (about 45 mins. away to the northeast).
  15. For all the years LexCath had great teams only to find the only better opponent before the State Final, and now, to get this Title when very few expected it, must be SWEET !! Congratulations, Knights... :thumb: :thumb:
  16. Awesome job, Red Devils !!! Russell has been a class program a VERY long time. Coach McGlone's Wing-T isn't an "offense of the past" quite yet. :ylsuper:
  17. Currently... The infield surface has been placed. The outfield fence is going up.
  18. Well, guru... I guess it depends on whether one HAS to work/to go school on Friday (or, if you can't be working while at the game like, say, a media person or even a photographer... ) I'm a pretty big football fan (figuratively and literally :sssh: ). Yet, work must come first. The net result of the format change for me is... I can now get to ALL the games if I choose without doubling my work schedule elsewhere. Oh, one of the bigger reasons the "Sweet 16" is a huge success is because many schools conveniently cancel class or schedule in-service Thursday and Friday at the tourney's start. IMO, an ideal first step in making the football State Finals an "event" would be to arrange time off from school in a similar manner. Another reason the basketball tourney is so popular is that it takes place indoors and out of the cold. Football in December is a cold proposition. Of course, it can't be helped. Yet the difference remains. :bunny:
  19. If there was ever something that proves that "you can't make everyone happy", this is it... Personally, I think the new setup is as ideal as possible. The players/parents/fans most likely involved in the 4A game (2 of the "Big 3") have the shortest drive, so it makes sense to put them on Friday after school/work. The other class games benefit from being on Saturday because it becomes doable to get to Louisville. The city's hotels ought to LOVE the new setup !!
  20. I've wondered why the same-district schools that play in the PCB don't just play twice. They could designate the second game later on as the "district game". I don't think there's anything in KHSAA rules against doing so.
  21. Wow.... Talk about deja vu all over again !!! :creepy:
