  1. And almost half of the all tourney team are either freshmen or sophomores, including 3 freshmen. 12th region has some of the best young talent in the state.
  2. Wayne: Woods, Stearns, Blevins Somerset: Weddle, Williams, Dishman West Jessamine: Fain, Peters Mercer: Hager, Ingram Lincoln: Taylor Boyle: Tyler Pulaski: Johnson Southwest: Edwards
  3. SHS - you are correct. I saw comments elsewhere about the freshman regional so I did some checking. Wayne didn't even enter the freshman regional, nor did Southwest. Boyle did but their 2 best freshmen that get some varsity time didn't play. Garrard has a strong freshman group but they didnt enter. Somerset beat Mercer in the championship (I heard it was a single digit game). Mercer was without 2 of their freshmen that are varsity only, one of which led them in scoring in their (varsity) win against Southwest Tuesday night. Freshman regional tourneys, much like the JV regionals, often aren't what they appear.
  4. They do have the chance as they are one of 4 still alive! It appears that the two most talented teams are gone. At this point, no outcome will surprise me. Although I think Wayne or West would be favored, neither are close to dominant. Any of the 4 can win if they have good games. Should be fun to watch.
  5. I've heard he's good but I dont get to see much Eastern KY basketball. I've seen several 7th, 8th and 12th region teams and they have some good ones. Dow kid from Ballard is good, will be really good. Williams kid at Owen County is a beast. Watched Hager and Stearns in the 12th region tournament this week and they are tough as well. I know there are many more but these are a few I've had the chance to see in person.
  6. Either way, back to the actual game, huge win for Wayne. most impressive thing is that they are led by young players, and good ones.
  7. I'm unbiased and have seen both teams play. I think that game was indicative of how equal they are - it is a toss-up. And I agree Wayne has a good young group that's already good on the varsity level (although I think Wayne only starts 1 sophomore). The only criticism I have is the comment about Somerset winning the 12th region freshman tournament. I wouldn't read too much into that. Less than half of the teams participated in it AND many of the best freshmen didn't even play even if theii teams did enter.
  8. No way would I put money on this one! Each team has shown the ability to be very good on any given night, yet be sub-par on other nighs. Somerset has size and Mercer has slashers. Both have kids that can knock down the three. I think it depends on who dictates the pace.
