  1. Thanks.

Outside of the 35 years of service increase, I don't see anything in there that is going to negatively impact teachers or their retirement.

I believe, and again, not an expert on this, that the capping of sick days towards retirement is a major issue and can ultimately cost teachers thousands per year in retirement and salary.

However, I think their biggest point, and rightfully so I'll add, is the optics of attaching a 291 page bill that no one had read, and had had no actuarial review, to the back-end of a sewage bill at the 11th hour. That looks like the opposite of being "represented" by your Representatives.

  2. BYU, Chaminade, Dayton, Georgia, Kansas, Michigan State, UCLA, Virginia Tech will all compete in next year's Maui Invitational

Just to be clear, by "next year", this is 2019's field, not the one from this coming fall (8 months).

  3. Travis may have ended up doing great at NKU, but as we sit here right now, it looks like it may have worked out best for all involved.

I certainly didn't mean to imply otherwise, you know how I feel about John. And so does he, for the record. Turned out to be 100% the right choice.

On a separate note, back to the point of the thread, I believe Xavier is at a very tenuous point, where a major back-slide is not only possible, but probably likely.

  4. Travis Steele (easy hire, continuity, safe hire for Greg Christopher who HAS to get this one right)

Pat Kelsey (only way this happens is if Fr. Graham and Bob Kohlhepp jam this down his throat)

    Tommy Amaker

    Chris Collins

John Brannen would have to have a few others say "no" first.

Porter Moser is well liked and well respected around Xavier as he was Majerus' #2 at SLU so many people got to know and like him. That said, this would be a HUGE leap for a guy with a terrible head coaching resume' up until about 3 weeks ago.

Ashley Howard, although I doubt very seriously he'd get a sniff.

Wojo would crawl from Milwaukee for this gig, but sadly for him, he can't be a candidate -- Xavier and Marquette are very close at the top of each organization.

Schmitty at St. Bonaventure would kill a puppy for this job. Not sure he gets a sniff either, but he will try his damndest to get a shot.

  5. Wouldn’t make the list. Understand your reason but athlete does not come to mind and was a jv player on state team.

Wouldn't make my list either, two separate posts, one pointing out Massie had two rings (which is impressive), one that AJ would be on a very short list for greatest all around CovCath athlete. No, of course not, Massie wouldn't be on that list, but his accomplishment was worth mentioning.

  6. Luke Maile, David Wilson, Jim VonHandorf, Etler, are a few of the names I would put in the best / most accomplished multi-sport of all-time discussion. Best is always debatable, but I'm not sure anyone can top an undefeated, 2 state championship.

Not a star, per se, in either sport, but Ryan Massie has a Soccer State Championship and a Basketball State Championship -- both single-class State Championship sports. Hugely impressive.

  7. I think more than anything cost is a determining factor for most.

    4 Tickets each game -- $76 x 3 games = $228

    Parking each game -- $15 x 3 games = $45

    Concessions / Ice cream each game -- $30 x 3 games = $90

Over $360 and we didn't attend the opening round game. That is real money, and I wouldn't dream of doing that if my school wasn't it. I don't care how much fun the environment is, how good the ice cream is, or good the basketball is, I'm not dropping $360 over 3 days (not to mention hotel or gas) if I don't have a dog in the fight.
