I like the hire in ways and others not as sure. I believe that his energy is definitely a strong point and something very needed with how far the program has fallen. He’s definitely got an impressive resume from his time in Charleston, but that’s also the question with the three years there as head coach and other experience. I will say I’m happier about getting Pat Kelsey over Richard Pitino. Only time will tell with what comes.

I really think that St. John's and Seaton Hall both deserved to be in the tourney in place of I thought Virginia and Boise State.
I totally agree, both of them belonged far more.

Below is a breakdown of the 6 conferences that placed 4 or more into the tournament field after the first two rounds:
Big 12- 7-5
SEC- 5-6
Big 10- 6-4
MW- 3-6
ACC- 8-1
Pac 12- 5-3
Also, the Big East and just 3 teams in the field, but they are now 6-0.
The Big East should have brought at least one more team likely. The three teams that it did are good, I expected all of them in the Sweet Sixteen. The ACC is clearly the surprise, they did far more than anyone expected, including plenty ACC fans.

It probably is. Regardless of what happens in the future, and that’s if there is one longer term, college basketball will NEVER be what it was once known as.

Big win for Clemson! I didn’t think they would beat Baylor. Either way, the ACC has definitely come to play. I’m happy about how the teams have performed so far.

Dominant as can be today.
Yes, I thought this was going to be closer.

Purdue has been very impressive. Could we be seeing the same result as what happened with Virginia the year after their first round exit? Purdue looks much better to me than last year. I still believe that UConn is the team to beat overall, guess we will see.

Personally, I’m glad he landed in Michigan instead of Louisville.

NC State has been impressive since the start of the ACC tournament. I’m sure Jimmy V is smiling and happy from above.

I’m glad Dusty May went to Michigan, didn’t really want him at Louisville.

Didn’t expect Yale to win but whoever from the Ivy League makes it, they are usually a threat. The SEC has disappointed putting it mildly. I know Texas A&M won, but Tennessee definitely has the brightest light within the conference.

Yes, this first round game is far different than last year’s.

I have Kansas losing the next game.

I know many UK fans don’t want to hear it but I think Cal remains. And I’m in agreement with college basketball being like it never has and the change is going to happen more. If we are being realistically honest, the coaching talent pool just isn’t what it once was. And if it was, I don’t know what good it would do overall between the majority of changes that have happened along with what’s still to come.
-
I’m truly surprised that Oakland won, obviously a big win for them. I do believe that it’s fair to say that Cal’s time has passed as head coach for UK. It’s time for UK and Cal to go new directions.

This was my first time ever picking against Izzo in the first round. I did because of how down the B1G has been and my belief that Michigan State didn’t really belong. I used to always say good or bad, never pick against Tom Izzo in the first round of the tournament and I was right.

I picked Duquesne in this one.

I don't know if I've ever picked against Izzo in the first round.
I never had before today.

This is likely the first time I picked against Tom Izzo in the first round. Regardless of how good or bad Michigan State is, Izzo is practically guaranteed a first round win. I thought Mississippi State had a chance and picked due to how down the B1G has been in basketball.

I'll check back later when UK is up 30.
Don’t know how much UK wins by but I don’t see this game as an issue for them.

UConn vs Baylor and Houston vs Tennessee. I have UConn repeating against Tennessee.

I think the game between Florida Atlantic and Northwestern is interesting of the first round. Florida Atlantic isn’t nearly as good as last year and Northwestern isn’t great by any means. Between Florida Atlantic not being as good and the attention Dusty May has been getting, I could see Northwestern winning.
-
Of coaches likely available at this point, I believe that Cronin is the best option. I think Dusty May could be a good option, but I think that Cronin is better.
Pat Kelsey named Louisville's next basketball coach

I agree with you about the chaos, that’s been the most stressful part of it to me too.
