  1. The answer is simple. When in the jet series, one wing is taken out of position by the motion. When that OLB blitzes, he has a free path into to the backfield.

In the spread, Crisp doesn't have the footspeed nor quickness that Burchett (last yr's QB) had. He simply doesn't have the ability to beat a tackler 1-on-1. Without keeping 2 backs in to block or not having a quick target, he was a lame duck.

The Corbin defensive coordinator's gameplan was excellent.

Right on the money. Thats why i hate the jet sweep. I think if Collins would have been in the backfield we could of had a little better blocking.

  2. Nice to see Justice, who SO many said couldn't play at this level, get quality minutes last night.:thumb:

Agree, i have been trying to silence some of my doubter friends in other parts of the state for months now. They never seen him play in high school. They only looked at height & weight & said he couldnt do it. I told them his heart was larger than either of the other & he would contribute this year & beyond. Congrats to the Cards & especially Justice. Keep it up kid. All of Eastern KY are rooting for ya.

  3. I agree with those that suggest five years under most circumstances. However, in the interim, a school should look for internal signs of progress. Is the off season program operating smoothly and have the kids bought into the system and the dedication that is being sought? Are there discipline problems? Are the coach and his staff providing good roll models for the athletes to emulate? On the field, are they competing each week? Is the coach getting the maximum out of the talent he has on the field?

Success is relative but a school has a right to expect some wins, as long as they are providing the program with enough support to enable it to function. If, after five years, the best athletes in the school still shun football and the talent level on the field still is not enough to produce winning seasons and, at least, competitive playoff runs, the school needs to take a look at the cause. In 1A some schools are just too small to be competitive. I don't care if the ghost of Knute Rockne coaches a school with a male enrollment of 90, they are not going to beat Beechwood, year in, year out. If such a school intends to keep playing football, the administration must define success in terms of the benefit to the student athletes. There are still many life lessons to be taught and the experience of dedicating oneself to a team cause should not be overlooked in any program.

    Agree !!!

  4. I'll say Prestonsburg... 35-28 (mostly because I LIKE P-burg's DBs 1-on-1 vs. most any receiving corp, NOT because I'm comfortable with P-burg's running game).

I agree Pburgs DB's are tough to contend with 1-on-1 with Slone, Williams, & Jamerson. Not to mention the up & coming play of Anderson. I do think if they would use Collins more up the gut it would open up for the outside runs on the dreaded Jet Sweep i hate so much.

  5. Winning a game is always important, but this year for some of us LC fans it's more important that our kids show that last years off the field "issues" was not a representation of who we really are. I was not there and I DON'T CARE who started it or what brought it on. It was not the impression we want to give of our town, our school, our coaches or our kids. They are really great young men! This coaching staff is an excellent group of leaders and they will have our kids ready to play and represent us the way we expect.

    My prediction is this.

    100% effort

    0 ejections

An entire town proud of this team

Hopefully an upset of an incredible Bell team.

    Great post

  6. I don't know but I really don't like discussing a football mishap that happened years ago. I'm also sure that the player that messed up in Florida would wish that it would also just go away. Pretty sure the boy in Florida has done plenty to help his team win and doesn't need a Kentucky web site discussing his mishaps but maybe praising the good that he does. So do we really need to go back and discuss all the mishaps of the ole timers on this site that have had that one play they just wish would never come up in discussion again.:idunno:

You learn from mistakes is why things like this come up IMO.
