  1. Here is the release from St Henry AD Jay Graue:

St. Henry District High School is pleased to announce that Paul Sturgeon has agreed to be the next Head Varsity Girls’ Basketball Coach for the Crusaders. The school received over twenty applications for the position and after a long interview process concluded that Coach Sturgeon would be the best person for the position.

Paul Sturgeon is a graduate of Lloyd High School and the University of Kentucky. He has spent the past ten years at Walton-Verona High School coaching the boys’ freshmen and junior varsity squads. Paul was also part of the coaching staff that won two All A Regional Champions and a 32nd District champion (the school’s first in 59 years). Paul resides in Union, KY with his wife, Sarah.

We would like to welcome Coach Sturgeon and his wife to the St. Henry Community. We are confident that Paul and the team will have many years of success in the future.

Welcome to the Cru Coach Sturgeon!

    Congratulations!

  2. No reference on my part to WV previous coach. Have not seen them practice ever, not seen a WV game in person in two years, and not had conversation w/ previous coach in several years.

I have seen Brannen's work and like much of what I have seen.

My coments related to coaching and why kids want to change programs. Interesting how true the words ring after seeing the tapes on the Rutgers situation this morning.

The previous WV coach was far from Mike Rice. No comparison what so ever.

  3. Fair enough. On a more personal level, if a kid feels as if he isn't getting "treated fairly", which could entail several things, what lesson is that kid learning? When life hits you and things get tough, quit and change? What happens when they have a bad day at their job? They should quit? Another point is that most kids are ok with where they play but when they are enticed to look at another school, this creates obvious issues.

Why is the first assumption that the kids or parents feel they are not being treated fairly?

That is not what I've observed at all in the situations I've been exposed to.

  4. "The basketball program at Walton is a wreck, it was so bad they fired their coach. Our children only get chance at high school basketball and we want them to have the best experience possible so we are transferring to Newport Central Catholic where they have one of the regions best basketball programs and fine academic programs."

That is speculation. Does not make it the reason.

  5. Not true at all. I am looking for the truth. For example, what school will they attend and why are they moving? You, on the other hand, have made it clear we should all manage our own lives yet you go on to say the move is not for athletic purposes but refuse to say what it is for.

You asked for my opinion and that is my opinion. The family is the only party that can present the truth, that is their call not mine.

  6. Not true at all. I am looking for the truth. For example, what school will they attend and why are they moving? You, on the other hand, have made it clear we should all manage our own lives yet you go on to say the move is not for athletic purposes but refuse to say what it is for. It is one or the other. Either you should refuse to give out any information or you should share both sides of it. You have an agenda, you know more than what you are revealing, and it degrades your credibility.

The truth is between the family and the KHSAA.

My discussion is to the KHSAA rule. I believe it has a preventive impact to families making such decisions. It would be a shame for kids to lose the experience of playing high school sports because of such moves or families not making the move and staying just so they can play high school sports.

As far as credibility on this sight, so be it.
