I'm shocked that he considers himself a guarantee for the HOF. I couldn't care less what color he is. I think he is a VERY below average NFL QB. I'd be just as shocked and amused if Matt Leinert made this statement.
"I don't know when I'll start again," he said to the magazine. "But I will be the next black quarterback to win a Super Bowl. And I will be in the Hall of Fame."
Wow??? I don't know what else to say.
The reason the NFL CAN'T implement this style and it has been shown over and over is the defensive schemes and the athletic ability of 11 men on that D. Like the NFL or not, it isn't going to the Spread Offense any time soon. Teams will use a few wrinkles for about 10 plays a game, but that is it.
I actually think he has a great chance to succed in the Big 10 with his style. IF he can recruit the same type of athletes (P. White, S. Slaton, N. Devine) that he did to Morgantown they will run circles around most athletically.
He is extremely talented and will only improve, but the best prospect of all time??? He wont be the best prospect of his draft class, much less all time. In all reality though, prospects come and go...Jeff George, Tony Mandarich, Alex Smith, Akili Smith...
I have no love or hate for Rod or Michigan, but I think it is way to early to say he is "taking mediocrity to a whole new level" after one season. He may end up failing, but I just think this is really jumping the gun.
