Beechwood 76 Pendleton County 31
statman replied to mcpapa's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Senior Scotty Draud scored his 3,000th point with 2:03 left in the 2nd Quarter on his way to a 27 point outing. He needs 41 points to pass Dixie Heights' Brandon Hatton as the all-time leading scorer in 9th Region history. It's likely he will break the record on Friday at Dixie. Congratulations Scotty!! -

Can we get a moderator to correct the score to read 66-53? Thanks. -

Not completely up to speed on the NKAC Division system, but I was told the win clinched Beechwood's first ever Division II title. Scotty Draud led the Tigers with 36 and 10 rebounds, shooting 11-11 from the charity stripe. Downton added 19 with 7 boards. -

My understanding is that RPI is being used for District Tiebreakers, but I do not have positive confirmation that is the case. -

According to the screenshot of the scorebook I received, Downton had 29 with 7 3pt FG, Draud had 20 and Boyd had 12. For the Camels, Beiting had 16 and Hegyi 11. -
Final from The Den. Scotty Draud with 28 pts, 8 assts, and 6 rebs. Will Downton with 21. Kelly Niece with 28 of his own and scored his 2,000th career point for the Pioneers.

It was actually 17 at 57-40, but yes, still impressive. -

Tyler Fangman 45 vs Boone County in 2011. Billy Garrison with 44 vs Lloyd Memorial in 1953. -

The 43 is the 3rd most in a game by an individual in school history. Career high for Scotty. -

As a Browns fan, two games in, I'm encouraged. In the first game, I think the Ravens are just that good. In the second game, I agree with most said here, if the Bengals had a better O-Line, it's a different game. The Browns got back to what Stefanski's design is and that is run the ball effectively and set up the play-action pass. With the exception of one throw, Mayfield played as well as he did in most games from his first season. I hope he puts last season behind him finally. Granted, the Browns won't rush for 200+ yards every game, but Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt are the best top 2 tailbacks on any team in the league.

FYI, it was third time Beechwood has made back-to-back regional appearances. 1948, 1949, 1991, 1992, and now 2019, 2020. Thank you for your informative articles all season. -
article Hazard Bulldogs State Tournament Preview
statman replied to All State Baseball's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
This is the 100th year of Hazard Boys' Basketball. Hazard became a member of the 2,000 win club early this season and this is their 29th state tournament appearance with 28 state tournament wins. Sources: Kentucky High School Basketball Encyclopedia and the Riherds scoreboard website for the years 2017-18 through the present. -
Time to have top teams in the Regional
statman replied to EKYkibitzer's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
4 classes in a state with 275 high schools that play basketball would be way too watered down. There are 4 classes (divisions) in my old state Ohio, but there are over 800 schools who play boys' basketball. -
I have them all in the KHSAA basketball encyclopedia. If you want a list for a specific district, I could send you one. There are word documents covering every district and region, but I don't know the website offhand.

Since the advent of 16 regions in 1932, this is true; however, our local teams (Boone, Campbell, Kenton) were in the 10th Region from 1932-1936, but again, no repeats. In 1946, only 4 teams were in the Region Tournament.

Beechwood had four double figure scores and three double-doubles last night: Will Downton - 12 pts Cole Busald - 10 pts and 10 assists Scotty Draud - 14 pts and 12 rebounds; and Mitchell Rylee - 22 pts and 11 rebounds Holmes was led by Amari Mullins with 19 pts and Quantez Calloway had 15 pts.

2019-20 is only the 5th time in school history the program has won 20 games and with the schedule played, that is quite an accomplishment IMO.
