  1. As has been stated over the last few years, the receiver still has to maintain control of the ball when they hit the ground if it's part of the catch and in this case it was. Same as when Johnson got hosed on the same call a couple years ago for the Lions. It's a stupid rule. But it is a rule.

I don't necessarily agree that the events of this play are the exact same as the Johnson play. I see a true football move being made after maintaining possession through two full steps. To me, the rules define the end of the play as the time in which a player is ruled down by contact, assuming he has established full possession prior to, and through the duration of the football move. I won't admit to being an expert on the rules. That is simply how I have interpreted them through the years. FWIW, I'm not a fan of either team (NYJ shoutout). This ruling just doesn't sit right with me. Especially since it was overturned from the original call.

  2. Is the football move not completed at the point in which the receiver's opposite elbow hits the ground and is ruled down by contact? He was ruled down before the ball ever even hit the ground because the other elbow hit first.

Can we all agree on the following:

Dez caught the ball with two hands.

He got both feet down while maintaining possession and even switching the ball to a single hand.

He lunged towards the goal line, extending the arm with the ball in an attempt to cross the goal line.

His off-ball arm hits the ground, followed shortly after by the ball hitting the ground and coming loose.

Is there any argument against that description of the events that took place in this play?

  3. Don't really get the whole gender identity thing. This isn't a gender identity crisis; it is a matter of personal preference. I don't care if the kid wants to wear dresses, play with dolls, be a ballerina, or have a boyfriend. The fact remains that this child is a boy. That is its identity. Male. A male with stereotypically female interests perhaps, but still a male. Social conditioning only tells us that the boy's alleged preferences are more in-line with what we perceive as girly. Let that be his identity, not some false persona of a different sex. This world gets crazier by the minute...

  4. Athleticism... I would define that as:

    Speed

    Agility

    Strength

    Explosion

    Hand/Eye Coordination

    Endurance

I like the Lacrosse answer as what sport REQUIRES the most athleticism. As for which sport HAS the best athletes, I will go with basketball. I think there is a natural tendency for the best athletes to gravitate towards one of the 4 major sports in basketball, football, soccer, and baseball.

  5. I'm pretty inconsistent on my finishes, but I can dunk on occasion. Haven't done it in a game though, and probably won't until I develop some consistency. I don't play enough anymore to gain that consistency though. Luckily, I've still got a few prime years left in me.

  6. I saw it yesterday and I'm unsure of why anyone would be disappointed. I went in expecting a great movie and got a great movie.

For anyone interested, you have to make it through about 7 minutes of credits to get the extra scene.

  7. Maybe the kid wants the best opportunity at a national championship. Maybe he just wants to play Xbox. Maybe he just turned 18, has a girlfriend who committed to ND and would like to see her as often as possible and it's not a bad drive to HTN considering she is just a junior. Maybe he's really close to his host family at prep who has a really solid relationship with his parents and wants to be where they can come watch him play more easily.

Maybe none of that matters and he is tired of the UK drama and goes to UNC.

My sister is actually pretty good friends with her. It appears that this is actually a bigger factor than many would believe.

  8. Heard about a deal through a friend the other day, so if you're in the Lexington area, you may want to give it a look here.

For $89.99, you get a pass to play 18 holes with cart at the following 6 courses:

    Tates Creek Golf Course

Picadome - Gay Brewer, Jr Course

    Connemara Golf Course

    Gibson Bay

Pass goes on sell April 19th.

  9. Good. We need a show only watcher here on the board. Will make this season much better to discuss.

There were many things I loved that they did already. I loved Mance Rayders introduction, kinda funny like the books. The Unsullied were already shown. Tyrion getting shut out. I kinda like Littlefinger/Sandal better than the Hound/Sansa. We still need more Robb and Catelyn though.

The Unsullied are intense! I can't wait to see more of them.

I need to finish my rewatch of Season 2. I can't exactly remember what happened with Sansa and The Hound. Also, I would love to see more of Robb and Catelyn, and can't wait to see where Arya's story leads.

  10. Do we finally have a TV watcher that hasn't read the books?

    *Raises hand*

I never knew of the books until I saw the show. I loved the show so much, I didn't want to ruin the surprises and suspense by reading ahead. Eventually I will read the books, but for now, I'm simply an avid show watcher.

As for the premiere, I was extremely pleased. Set the tone for what I expect to be a GREAT season. The scene between Tywin and Tyrion really stole the episode for me personally. Also, loved seeing Barristan again.

  11. Crazy how people are so upset with one down year out of four. Cal's first season brought extreme excitement to the program. That was the best team in college ball that year. They just happened to have a really bad night in the Elite 8. His second season was possibly my favorite team. Rough start to the season, but pulled it together and got hot for a run to the Final Four. Of course last year's team was amazing. I think I can handle a down year every 4 years or so. Also, let's not forget that this team lost their best player. Freak injury had a huge impact on the remainder of the season. On other boards and comment sections, I have seen people legitimately questioning Cal's approach to coaching and recruiting because of this season. I don't even have words to describe how insane that is to me.

  12. I was wrong when I thought Kyrie Irving wouldn't be that good in the NBA. He's now one of my favorite players to watch and is taking The League by storm.

I was wrong when I thought it would be easy to get a job after college with a very solid degree. Oh so very wrong. (Still have some time though...)

  13. The Vegas spread actually gives me some hope. I feel like they're pushing people to pick Mizzou, which means they think UK has this one. May just be me looking for some false hope, but maybe there's something to it. Hoping for a HUGE win for the Cats. This could be the difference in March Madness or NIT.

  14. I really feel for the kid, but I'm not worried. If there is one thing Nerlens Noel showed us this season, it's that he has HEART. He'll fight his way back to form and go on to have a long, productive career in the NBA. His attitude will carry him through this. This fan truly appreciates what he gave to the team, the university, and the community. Now, I wish him nothing but the best as he moves forward. BBN will always be behind this one. A true fan favorite.

  15. No, it's a perfect analogy. Why does he feel people that are old enough to serve in the military aren't able to participate in his company? Once you've hit the age of 18, you're legally considered an adult and should be able to be employed in whatever field you chose if their is a market for you.

It's not about the age. It's about getting a chance to see the players against greater competition. Much like many jobs need an advanced degree or training past high school, so does the NBA. FWIW, I am also very much against the one and done rule.

  16. I honestly feel sick thinking about Nerlens right now... I love everything he has brought to UK this year, being the only bright spot on the team as far as I'm concerned. Praying for the best but expecting the worst. I hope he heals quickly and is able to go have a great NBA career. That picture... Man, this just sucks...
