  1. I am happy to see this game happening. It should have taken place each season and I hope it continues.

These two small Western Kentucky schools are exactly what high school football is about.

There will be a lot of history and tradition on the field Friday night.

What does Mayfield have 9 or 10 State Championships?

FC has 6 State Championships and two Kentucky Mr. Football alumni.

I don't have any idea who wins Friday; no more Jonathan Jackson for the Cardinals and no more Coach Berner for the Falcons. Coach Morris remains for Mayfield and FC has an exciting kid named Triston Luke at RB that has the potential to be in the Mr. Football conversation someday. I hope this one goes down to the wire.

  2. Centrals male enrollment puts them squarely in 3A. Do you honestly think they should be punished because of a high participation rate? That would be a slippery slope and a step that I would be uncomfortable seeing us take.

Nope, nobody thinks anybody should be punished, let's not go too far down the rabbit hole on this.

  3. I'm not sure what their enrollment is but they dress over 100 players, participation must be at a high percentage.

The team that KHSAA needs to reclassify is South Warren. I know they are a new school but IMO the KHSAA needs to be more proactive about classification. No reason a 5A school gets to compete in 3A. With all that being said I'm fairly certain that Monroe will be back in 2A after the next classification...

We noticed the same last year when Central visited Fort Campbell; they had at least 30 more kids dressed then we did. Participation is pretty high at FC with Coach Berner, but we were quite a few players short when we played Central.

I agree on South Warren, don't know what criteria the KHSAA used in placing them in 3A, it was not based upon male student population.

  4. Glad to see another West Ky team make it to BGreen...Admittedely, I'm a little surprised they've made it this far, but, they are playing their best fb of the season at the right time..

I agree, great to have another team from God's Country, (Western KY), in a title game. Would not have picked CC to make it a few weeks ago, but they appear to clicking pretty good right now.

  5. Monroe has more than a good opportunity of pulling this off; here are a few keys for them.

    1) Anthony Wales graduated last season and this point can't be overstated.

    2) Monroe can't turn the ball over and give Central extra possessions; zero turnovers = Monroe victory. Central is outstanding in forcing turnovers at key points in the game.

    3) Central appears to have a few nicks and scars from their last game, Monroe can capitalize on this.

This will be a huge challenge for the Falcons, but I am expecting a little magic from the country team against the champs from the 'Ville.

    Monroe 21 -14

    Go Monroe County Falcons!!!

  6. I think Ft Campbell was too worried about who they'd play next week instead of worrying about S.Warren. They thought this was a lock game..

Truer words have never been spoken!!

All the chatter had been about having all FC personnel dressed and ready by the Region championship game and that the first two games of the playoffs were smooth sailing. South Warren however, was prepped and ready for playoff football. Congrats to South Warren.

  7. PT's coach had a filty mouth that was shameful. At the end of the game the mf-bombs coming from the mouths of pt players, coaches, and parents was a disgrace . Does the coach think that he is auditioning for the part of Bear Bryant in the Junction Boys made for TV movie???/ Tsyoung is right about guidance.......none what so ever from their coaching staff . What a waste . PT could be playing for the championship with their speed and talent.

Now you guys in Tompkinsville understand why I have never and will never cheer for PT. Posts on BGP do not adequately describe Randy Wyatt - now that you have had a chance to see him in action, you know the truth.

Great game MC, beat South Warren and then get ready to upset Central!!

  8. Congrats to South Warren great job by a school in only their second football season.

FC too many players out on the D-side as a result of suspension from two weeks ago at Hopkinsville. Nobody talked about it and hoped that FC could get through the first two weeks of the playoffs, get everybody back and get ready for the Region final. That was not the case, congrats to South Warren.

  9. Feel FC just too good for South Warren but give South Warren credit up and coming team.

You are exactly right on recognizing the positive results and the progress they have made in just a couple of seasons. It probably won't be this season and maybe not next year, but South Warren will become a factor in the Region very soon. They have sound coaching and there is a pretty good talent pool for them to pull from.

  10. I was giving a little insight to my reasoning behind my prediction geez guys. This is a discussion board. In 5 days it will be decided on the field and I expect some crow to be eaten either way. I expect FC guys to pull for Roe. PT will def. be a harder out next time around. If I can't stir up some fodder with that comment this thread doesn't have a pulse. Peace!!!

I picked MC because they will win for two reasons location of the game and coaching. Tompkinsville is tough, MC has Coach Petett who has turned things around at Monroe and is one of the better, yet unknown coaches in the state. On the other hand, PT has Randy Wyatt who yearly accomplishes the least with probably the most talent in 3A with the exception of Central.

As a FC fan, make no mistake, it fares much better for FC to play PT at the Fort than to travel to Tompkinsville.

PT has never won at the Fort, Coach Berner is 7 - 2 against PT and has beaten PT twice in a row. When you throw the "Randy " factor in with that, FC would much rather play PT. However, being a man of principal I can never and will never cheer for Paducah Tilghman - Go Monroe County Falcons!!

  11. Not going to be surprised if Joker continues to survive for another season. At this point, it is way past overdue so why has it not happened?? Soon, all of Big Blue Nation will be focused on Coach Cal and another title run & Joker won't be in the spotlight.

Don't be surprised at all next August when Joker walks out on the field and we start the whole dismal process again. I don't think the University has the courage to fire him quite honestly or it would have already happened.

  12. This should be a very good football game. Tompkinsville is a tough place to get to and a tough place to play once you do get there. We were there for the '08 semi-final and the crowd and enthusiasm there is very impressive.

I think two things determine this game; location of the game in Tompkinsville & the coaching at Monroe County. As long as Monroe doesn't turn over the ball and give PT extra possessions, the MC Falcons will win by a TD.

  13. Opponents in 09 thought the same............

Looking forward to the trip to T-ville

Can't wait!( in my best Bart Scott voice)

This is not '09 when PT was the least worst team in the 3A playoffs, which was the weakest class in the state. Six losses by a state champion pretty much establishes how poor the talent in 3A was during the '09 season.
