  1. There is an enormous number of 3A schools in the eastern half of the state. Somebody from this side is going to have to be in D4, and thus, play the "western" schools in the playoffs. I know, nobody wants to do it, but somebody has to.

Looking at this breakdown of the districts (very rough, I know) then I don't think they could have arranged them any better, as far as placing teams together.

I also understand why they put Bell Co, et al in D4. The other 4 eastern districts are close in proximity and technically more eastern than most of the teams in Bell's new district.

But, if they wanted to rearrange it, one thing I think they could do differently is this...

Place Bourbon, Bath, Powell, Garrard and Estill in D4, and

Place Bell, Corbin, Casey, Wayne and McCreary in D5, and

Place Breathitt, Jackson, Knott, Morgan and Magoffin in D6, and

Place Mason, Lewis, Fleming, E.Carter and W.Carter in D7

In other words, switch D4 with D5; and also switch D6 with D7

Here is the current proposed breakdown, how would you have arranged it differently?

Not sure KHSAA could have done much better than this? 3A may be the most evenly divided class as far as geopgraphic positioning goes.

  2. First, when you are hinting at what you are, you need PROOF. It is against the rules to hint otherwise. Secondly, keep in mind, we're not looking to cruise control into the finals. We look to win the finals, doing so in 7 out of the last 9 seasons, beating Male (twice), St. Xavier (thrice), Ryle & Simon Kenton each once. Pretty sure we earned everything.

Bottom line is the Trinty and St.X supporters are upset that both schools will not be in the finals each year. Don't count on any sympathy from the "real" world when it comes to this subject.

  3. Do you have proof of this EROCK? No, you dont! Quit with the misinformation. KHSAA rules are very strict about "scholarships" towards athletes. They dont recieve them, and until you have PROOF, then silence is your best course.

No proof needed. Everyone in the state know how things go at St. X and Trinity. This is just a small step toward the right thing to do by the KHSAA. I sense some sour grapes because you will have to compete for a trip to the finals each year instead of your cruise control trip each season.

  4. Trinity's tuition is around $10,000 / year. At the most, you can qualify for half assistance. Now, I ask you, which is more, $5,000 / year, or free? Don't worry, I'll wait.

Surely the athletes that see the field at X and T are not "out of pocket" any money. Lets be serious, there are not many people on this site that can be suckered into beleiving X and T are on the same playing field as public schools of the same size.

  5. It's not the truth. Ft. Campbell competed w/ the privates quite well the past 3 years. Bring some figures to the table before talking about private v public money. I can assure you that many of the privates do not have near as much money as you perceive them to have. Further, publics are state funded. You are just making an excuse.

How many public schools do you know of that can offer financial assistance/tuition to out of district student athletes?

How many student athletes do St. X/Trinity have that transfered in from other school districts?

Bottom line is that public schools do not compete on a LEVEL playing field with private schools!!!

  6. Money is money and since the KHSAA doesn't make a penny on the rivalry during the regular season, they just eliminated this revenue period. As another poster said, the rest of the state teams will be playing for runner up every year versus every other year as it is set up now. I guess that's a victory in the KHSAA's opinion.

A very big victory for public schools in Kentucky. Hard to compete with private school money. The only way it will ever be truly correct is when private schools have their own playoffs. Not trying to get the public/private debate started again just stating the truth.

  7. Why would it be funny if Estill Co. beat Somerset? They returned 20 starters from last years team that went 7-5. I consider that a great catalyst for a state run and a team capable of beating the Jumpers. I think both teams and fans should come off of the field respecting the other because there is a very good chance they will meet again in November when the stakes are a little higher. :thumb:

They have 12 starters that reutrn with 6-8 of those guys going both ways. Tahts far fetch from 20.

  8. The hiring of Chad Montgomery, everyone in Dayton and Bellevue and if you know Chad you would have expected it. Probably would have gotten the job if they had an open teaching position.

I know that Estill County runs a veer option/ wing t offense. Is he going to retain any of the assistant coaches from the Eckstien era? IMO if he doesnt it will hurt his chances of bonding quickly with his new team! Best of luck to him though Everyone knows the community of Bellevue is a very supportive group and that should benefit him in the best way possible.

Well first of all Estill runs a Double Wing Offense not a wing t. Second, Coach Shearer will prob not run any offense close to Estill just because he is from Estill. Coach Shearer will do a fine job.

They sould beat Powell this week. They have two tough home games the next 2. Seems Breathitt maye have things clicking after last game and Estills young team also has found a little swager and is playing well.
