Beau Buchanan, Bowling Green (7-0, ranked #2 in 5A)

 

Week 7: The Purples were off last week. A monster challenge awaits this week in the form of Warren Central (IN).

 

 

Joey Cambron, Daviess County (4-3, unranked in 6A)

 

Week 7: Cambron feasted on Muhlenberg County's secondary in a 49-12 Panthers victory. He ended the night with 309 yards passing (his fourth 300+ yard game of the season) and a season high 5 TDs.

 

Season to date: 147 of 243 for 1,916 yards passing and 20 TDs with 10 ints.

Gavin Spurrier, South Warren (8-0, ranked #3 in 5A)

 

Week 7: Spurrier's night was just about the only thing that didn't go right for the Spartans in their 21-0 win over Ravenwood (TN). He finished up 12 of 22 for just 72 yards and an interception with no touchdown passes.

 

Season to date: 94 of 132 for 1,448 yards and 23 TDs with 3 ints.

Braxton Ratliff, Ashland (8-0, ranked #3 in 4A)

 

Week 7: In yet another outing that could be described as less than strenuous, Ratliff piloted the Tomcats to a 41-0 victory over East Carter with 226 yards passing and 3 TDs.

 

Season to date: 69 of 115 for 1,300 yards and 14 TDs with 4 ints. ; 58 rushes for 542 yards and 6 TDs

East Carter High School - Braxton Ratliff highlights - Hudl

 

 

Chase Estep, Corbin (6-1, ranked #2 in 3A)

 

Week 7: Estep attempted one pass (that was picked off) in Corbin's 48-0 win over Jackson County that he'd probably like to have back. On the plus side, it was the only ball that fell incomplete versus the Generals. His 12 of 13 performance resulted in 235 yards and 4 TDs.

 

Season to date: 93 of 135 for 1,746 yards with 23 TDs and 4 ints. ; 59 rushes for 351 yards and 5 TDs

Cameron Jones, Frederick Douglass (8-0, ranked #2 in 6A)

 

Week 7: Though it wasn't his best night, Jones played his part in the Broncos’ flag planting victory over CKY kingpin Scott County. He threw for 193 yards and 2 TDs, but was also picked off twice.

 

Season to date: 105 of 140 for 1,976 yards with 23 TDs and 5 ints.

Wiley Cain, Pulaski County (5-2, ranked #10 in 5A)

 

Week 7: Pulaski's offense was shut out in the 2nd half versus Lincoln County. Fortunately, their 1st half performance was enough to hold on for the 27-21 victory. Cain wasn't at his best, but his 229 yards and 2 TDs (plus an int.) got the job done.

 

Season to date: 163 of 258 for 1,958 yards and 18 TDs with 6 ints.

Running Backs

 

Wandale Robinson, Western Hills (5-2, ranked #10 in 3A)

 

Week 7: Much like last year, Wandale put on a show versus Lexington Catholic. And much like last year, Western Hills’ defense couldn't stop a potent Knights offense. In defeat, the explosive Mr. Robinson topped 200 yards rushing, with 4 TDs and a 98 yard pick-six. For good measure, he led his team in tackles with 14, and completed 4 of 5 passes for 64 yards. His one incompletion was an interception, though. Proving that he may be human after all.

 

Season to date: 134 carries for 1,379 yards and 21 TDs ; 17 catches for 367 yards and 7 TDs ; 2 kick return TDs ; 69 tackles ; 3 interceptions (1 pick-six)

Lexington Catholic High School - Wandale Robinson highlights - Hudl

 

 

Casey McGinness, Covington Catholic (7-0, ranked #1 in 5A)

 

Week 7: On a night when CovCath's defense was not its usual lockdown self, the offense needed to be on top of its game. And often times, that means establishing McGinness on the ground. In the Colonels’ toughest challenge so far this season, #2 churned out 158 yards and 2 TDs in CovCath's 52-36 win over Bishop Chatard (IN). He also chipped in 4 catches for 31 yards.

 

Season to date: 114 carries for 1,140 yards and 17 TDs ; 15 receptions for 221 yards and 3 TDs

Tre’ Bass, Franklin-Simpson (6-1, ranked #2 in 4A)

 

Week 7: The defending 4A champs were off last week. They face Warren Central this Friday.

 

 

Jayden Neace, Perry County Central (6-1, unranked in 5A)

 

Week 7: Despite beating Whitley County 21-6, Neace had his worst outing of the season by a country mile. His 58 yards on 24 carries were nearly 200 yards below his season average. He can't afford too many more games like this, or else he risks falling from the watchlist in the late stages of the season.

 

Season to date: 158 carries for 1,589 yards and 25 TDs

Kent Trey Matthews, Mayfield (7-0, ranked #1 in 2A)

 

Week 7: Mayfield was off last week. They travel to Ballard Memorial this week.

 

 

Anthony Adkins, Larue County (4-2, unranked in 3A)

 

Week 7: The Hawks were off last week. The return to action this Friday versus Elizabethtown.

 

 

Landan Swartz, Bath County (5-2, unranked in 3A)

 

Week 7: Last week's game versus Lewis County could have been a flag football match and Swartz probably still would have put up the same numbers he did in pads. The Lions were powerless to stop #1 as he gashed his way to 265 yards and 3 TDs on just six carries.

 

Season to date: 163 rushes for 1,440 yards and 17 TDs ; 2 kick return TDs

Lewis County High School - Landan Swartz highlights - Hudl

 

 

Joe Jackson, Johnson Central (6-1, ranked #1 in 4A)

 

Week 7: Jackson proved once again why he’s the straw that stirs the drink in JC's relentless rushing attack. His comeback season continued with 291 yards (mostly, if not all in the 1st half) and 4 TDs on the ground in a 51-0 destruction of Greenup County.

 

Season to date: 117 rushes for 1,111 yards and 17 TDs ; 3 receiving TDs

Dalton Cook, Lynn Camp (7-0, ranked #10 in 1A)

 

Week 7: Lynn Camp rushed for a staggering 624 yards in its 65-26 win over Pineville. Cook accounted for well over half of that output with 346 yards and 3 TDs. In the process, he usurped the title of statewide rushing leader from Jayden Neace.

 

Season to date: 94 carries for 1,699 yards and 23 TDs

Demarco Fishback, Frederick Douglass (8-0, ranked #2 in 6A)

 

Week 7: Welcome to the club Mr. Fishback! FD's stud running back was the star performer in the Broncos’ 28-10 win over Scott County. He accounted for nearly 200 yards from scrimmage and a TD.

 

Season to date: 96 rushes for 878 yards and 16 TDs ; 15 receptions for 239 yards and 4 TDs

Scott County High School - Damarco Fishback highlights - Hudl

 

 

 

 

 

 

Wide Receivers

 

Demontae Crumes, Butler (6-2, ranked #4 in 6A)

 

Week 7: The Bears had little trouble dispatching Pleasure Ridge Park 59-6. Sixty of Crumes’ 67 receiving yards came on a long TD catch.

 

Season to date: 25 catches for 614 yards and 10 TDs

Marquel Tinsley, Daviess County (4-3, unranked in 6A)

 

Week 7: For the second straight week, Tinsley proved nearly impossible to cover. His 9 grabs for 217 yards and 4 TDs in Daviess County’s 49-12 win over Muhlenberg County gives him 17 catches for 444 yards and 6 TDs combined the past two games.

 

Season to date: 49 receptions for 903 yards and 12 TDs

Linemen

 

Bryan Hudson, Scott County (5-3, ranked #7 in 6A)

 

Week 7: The battle for big school CKY supremacy went against the Cardinals, as Frederick Douglass handed Scott County its third loss in four games.

Jacob Lacey, South Warren (8-0, ranked #3 in 5A)

 

Week 7: The Spartans put on a defensive clinic versus Ravenwood, holding the Raptors to 64 yards of offense and sacking their QB nine times. Two of those sacks were credited to Lacey. They represented two of his six tackles for loss.

 

Season to date: 32 tackles (14 TFL) ; 4 sacks ; 1 forced fumble

Tanner Bowles, Glasgow (6-1, ranked #6 in 2A)

 

Week 7: Glasgow was off last week. They resume district play this week versus Monroe County

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Athletes

 

Milton Wright, Christian Academy of Louisville (7-0, ranked #2 in 2A)

 

Week 7: Wright caught six balls versus DeSales, but was bottled up (he had just 31 yards receiving) and kept out of the endzone. But despite being held in check, the Centurions were the weekend's big winners, besting the Colts 21-10.

 

Season to date: 37 catches for 456 yards and 4 TDs ; 15 rushes for 139 yards and 3 TDs ; a kick return TD ; 29 tackles (3.5 TFL)

Logan Castleman, Beechwood (5-2, ranked #1 in 1A)

 

Week 7: Castleman followed up his workhorse performance against Simon Kenton with a short, but very efficient outing in a 63-0 blowout of Bellevue. He only touched the ball four times on offense, but scored three touchdowns. He also added a pick-six, his second of the season.

 

Season to date: 82 carries for 702 yards and 10 TDs ; 11 catches for 100 yards and 2 TDs ; 3 ints. (2 returned for TDs)

Drew Sawyers, Southwestern (7-0, ranked #5 in 5A)

 

Week 7: Sawyers again made a big impact in multiple facets of the game with just over 200 yards of offense and 5 total TDs, plus an interception on defense. The Warriors crushed South Laurel 47-6.

 

Season to date: 42 of 71 for 676 yards and 6 TDs ; 80 rushes for 686 and 8 TDs ; 2 interceptions ; 4 kick return TDs

Thanks for the comprehensive update. Regarding the young man from Bath County, that was an impressive yards-per-Carey evening against Lewis County.
