Clear Cut #2

This was a short week for several high school football teams with some Thursday night action. The 6A Football Class had four match-ups on Thursday, starting with the Male, Butler, Trinity, and Henry Clay.

#1 Male traveled to Bryan Station to continue its perfect season. Male made quick work of this contest, getting the 57-28 win.

#4 Butler was also on the road this week, but just a quick trip to Pleasure Ridge Park for a district match-up. Butler also made quick work of Pleasure Ridge Park. Chaz Burks threw for 208 yards and 4 touchdowns. Noted as well, Jordan Watkins played his first game this week.

#5 Trinity picked up its 2nd win of the season with a 45-0 win over district opponent Eastern on the road.

#6 Henry Clay got another district win this week over Dunbar. Henry Clay scored every way manageable in this game via fumble, pick six, field goal, and 2 rushing touchdowns.

Friday Night Lights

One of the two biggest Friday night games was #2 Frederick Douglass hosting #7 Scott County. This game did not disappoint. The first quarter was scoreless, but Frederick Douglass got on the board early in the second via pass from Cameron Jones to Dekel Crowdus. Scott would answer with a scoring drive of their own to tie the game 7-7. Frederick Douglass would answer back and take a 14-7 halftime lead. The 3rd quarter would go scoreless. Frederick Douglass would strike again to push the lead to 20-7 and eventually pull away late with the 28-10 win.

Another big time game was #3 Saint Xavier hosting #8 Manual. Saint Xavier took a blow as Keegan Sullivan went down with a knee injury in this one. The young man has had bad luck all season it seems. But Saint Xavier got the big district win, 25-7. Saint Xavier had over 400 yards of offense in this one. The defense held Manual to only 32 yards of offense according, to Saint Xavier stats recorded for the game.

We even had a Saturday game this week.

#10 Simon Kenton picked up a big 39-7 win over Boone County. Simon Kenton had 500 yards of offense in this match-up. They also held Boone County to just 151 yards of total offense.

6A Notables

North Hardin picked up its 5th win of the season with a 24-7 win over Meade County.

Madison Central picked up a big district win over Tates Creek on Thursday night, 33-18.

Campbell County picked up another close win with a 13-9 win over Conner. Campbell County would score to win in the last seconds of the game.

McCracken County got a big district win, 36-24, over Henderson County. This win has all but locked up the 1 seed in district 1.

George Roger Clark picked up its 5th win of the season with a big district win over Lafayette, 26-7.

Game of the Week:

Male vs. Saint Xavier

This game could have District 3 repercussion, as Male could lock up the #1 seed with a win. Saint Xavier's defense seems to have finally dialed in and is playing to the ability that many expected to see from the beginning of the season. They have only given up 14 points in the past two games. All eyes will be on this game Friday night.
