Of course now they get Bowling Green in the first round of the Sweet 16 against a team who is 27-1 and has played numerous games on the WKU floor. All the Bearcats can do is give it their best shot and let the chips fall where they may. Congratulations and good luck to Coach Miller and the young ladies he coaches very well.

HUGE congrats to the Lady Bearcats! It's wonderful to see an "A" school win the region. :thumb:

Third "A' school to win TB,&G. Your Trimble County Raiders in 1976 and 1981 and my Gallatin Co. Wildcats in 1997. Congrats to Coach Miller and his staff and players.

Tremendous region final, and wonderfully exciting. First-ever title for the Walton ladies. W-V is the winningest team in the 8th region over this year and last year, and has two all-a region titles and now one "regular" region title to show for it. Beat the other two "favorites" (South and Anderson) en route to winning it all, plus a win over an emotionally-charged homestanding Gallatin team. Showed a lot of moxie in the OT win over South - Sandlin and Clinkenbeard both hitting pressure-packed shots in regulation and in OT - and then tonight, rallying over and over and over and finally getting over the top to beat Anderson County.

Thought the W-V defense was key tonight...the 3-2 zone was very effective and seemed to confuse Anderson at times. It certainly kept the ball out of Sydney Browne's hands in scoring position, and kept some pressure on Anderson's premier outside shooter, MacKenzie Cann. Eriel McKee had a an incredible game for Anderson, but on the final play, the W-V defense suffocated her, and Anderson was unable to get her the ball for the final shot...

Surprised that Anderson did not press all all, and pretty much only played five players - Whiteside and Watson both played, but for only the briefest of moments. Miller got quality minutes from his bench; Judy and Mullikan, especially, played many critical minutes.

Kudos to the Lady Bearcats of Walton-Verona and good luck in Bowling Green!!!!
